The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children aged between 6 and 7 years old, as well as six adult staff members. It was during that time that we (Dance Spirit) were recording material for our first album when this tragedy took place so we wrote a song called “Mother, Mother” to help us cope with the tragic shock of this deplorable act.

The song was so powerful and emotional that we decided to shelve it; however, after the last year of senseless violence, both domestic and international relating to racism, politics, terrorism, and other evils of human nature we have decided to gift it to the world. We are starting by sharing the love at Burning Man this year. Music can be an incredibly healing factor when it comes to coping with the tragedies that we can go through in this world. We are dedicating this song to anyone who has lost a loved one to violence whether it has been in war, at home, or in the streets. 

Lyrically the song is written from the point of view from a child who lost his life to the violence, and it  is a gentle reminder to those of us who have to survive in this world; that no matter how ugly it can be, love is and always will be the answer. Metaphorically the bond between mother and child is the strongest form of love to ever exist in nature. It can also be a model for how we can grow to love each other and ourselves.

Keys in the ignition, no turning back: Dubfire and Miss Kittin are about to take us on another late night road trip. And this time there are two very special ways to ‘Ride’…

Plotting new routes from where they last dropped us off in 2014 with ‘Exit’, and presented in Miss Kittin’s own artwork, the two long term friends and musical kindred spirits cover a side each with two version journeys you’ll never forget.

Kittin jumps straight on the autobahn in a tank-shaped techno hummer. Thumping the tarmac down with every gas-guzzling kickdrum, lights blur and trace and the mission gathers momentum as we cruise almost majestically into a brighter unknown.

Dubfire brings us back home via the trusty widescreen house plains. Roads running parallel with the grand, emotional highways he once took as Deep Dish; the vanishing point is far on the horizon where a vast sky of twinkling stars opens up with a feeling you could ride for days on end.

Unhurried, restrained and timelessly crisp and futuristic: trips like this don’t come about very often… The keys are in the ignition, care to take a ‘Ride?’

Lead single is a warm desert grooved track with chanting vocals, repetitive motives and rich textures; they all interweave and vibe you right inside its African rhythm. ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: Well... I (Cani) found it long time ago, it was around 98 with my cousin Carlos in Mexico. It's one of my favs... I was trying to do my first edit with a Mano Negra song. Here is the result.

HRDF: What would you do if you weren’t making music?
ZOMBIES IN MIAMI: (Jenouise) I could be involved in administration or something in a office. (Cani) Would be awesome to be a professional golfer haha.

Exclusive Nyaruach 'Gatluak (Nandu Remix)'

Danish producer Rasmus Vincentz Jensen better known under his alias Nandu kicks off 2019 with a remix for Nyarach's track 'Gatluak' which underlines his preference for African vocals. Despite running at a speed of 114 bpm only the Copenhagener created a remix that easily fits into any peak time set as the sound-arrangement and the rhytmically yet stomping bass line seem to manage the balancing act of working at any time of the night. 'Gatluak' lives musically up on Nandu's last productions of 2018 when the Dane released his 'One Man's High Is Another Man's Anxiety' long player on Connected and skillfully tossed around with various elements that he put together to little masterpieces. For his remix approach to 'Gatluak' Nandu chose to create a symbiosis between implementing the original vocal sample and the right dose of percussions in combination with the carrying synth-melody. The way Nandu puts each piece of the puzzle together makes the final result sound like a march of liberation on the dance floor that not only dancers seem to join but has already gained heavy support from scene's key-players like Dixon.

Nyaruach's EP 'Gatluak Remixes' will be out January 11th, 2019 on MoBlack Records.

Alex Niggemann’s forward thinking label Aeon recently celebrated five years at the forefront of cutting edge music. To k ick off 2019, Kincaid makes his debut on the label. The EP is the first in a string of exceptional music to come this year.  
The four track EP kicks off in style with On The Back Of A Serpent . An Italo-tinged number with Kincaid's trademark live sounding drum programming. It’s an instant club rocker with trippy vocal snippets that draw the listener into an ethereal, spine tingling breakdown. Stare Into My Monstera begins with a driving groove and dissonant Rhodes, building subtly but relentlessly towards a euphoric Nord lead motif which reappears throughout. A track that will undoubtedly find favour with the discerning Burner crowd. Papoose starts with middle eastern influenced sounds and insistent Timpani accents, before locking into a groove which hypnotises and intrigues in equal measure. Closing out ATL026 is our very own head honcho. On receiving the raw demo BOg immediately had a personal vision for this release and just knew he had to remix ‘Tongue Tied’. With a maturity in approach BOg weaves one of his magical sonic journeys, at first teasing with a solitary repeated arp as the unique vocal takes centre stage before adding deep bass pules and elegant layers. The track builds almost subconsciously, drawing the listener in deeper, entrancing you with the purest of melodies before gently ebbing away as the beats ride out ... making you lost for words.

trndmsk: What inspired you to produce the EP?

JPATTERSSON: „Lost Items“ feels more minimalistic and darker than the music I produced before. Therefore I got to know some other musical sides of JPattersson which has been a great journey and experience. During this process I was inspired by sounds and grooves but also by pictures in my head what can be seen in the way I titled my tracks this time. Besides the music of artists surrounding me is always great inspiration. The scene is growing so fast and there is lots of good stuff emerging. (...)

Dutch duo Makèz land on Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings for the first time with their ‘Different Planets’ EP showcasing disco-tinged house with old school Chicago influences.
