At just 21 years of age, Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir is a sensation in his domestic music scene with almost 10% of the Icelandic population now owning his debut album, Dyrd í dauðathogn – the biggest and fastest-selling debut by a home grown artist.

May 2013 saw Ásgeir’s first exposure to UK audiences in support to John Grant - who was also responsible for the English translations of In The Silence and was followed by extensive European dates with fellow countrymen Of Monsters & Men, including a mesmerising appearance at London’s Somerset House. 
 
With his deft combination of electronic & organic instrumentation, Ásgeir’s vibrant, airy songs - inset with his distinctive melancholic voice have widespread appeal.

At the start of 2013 the success of Dyrd í dauðathogn was recognised with no less than four Iceland Music Awards and a nomination for the prestigious Nordic Music Prize. Ásgeir appeared at Sonar Reykjavik and by:Larm festivals early in the year before making his US debut in March, including two SXSW shows.

Getting a script picked up is a cool thing if you’re a scriptwriter, but not for an aspiring musician. Writing a script for a sequel to 1998’s instant classic ‘You’ve Got Mail’ set in the present day probably sounds as dumb as it actually is, but that's exactly what I had done.

What started out as a fun fan-fiction ode with a nod to the Tinder generation eventually made it’s way into the right hands, got picked up, cast and nearly green-lit. It wasn’t until July of this year that the studio finally released me from my contract, which meant that I could go back to writing my album. 

So here’s the first single. It’s called ‘Sauvage’.

PEREL is no stranger to ://about blank. For years she has convinced us witAnkerh her fantastic live sets; as a DJ, she is just as grounded. "opal" sounds exactly like that—a shimmering, contemporary version of disco!, an album on dfa coming soon.
 
Our resident JESSAMINE is releasing his first track ever on this mini compilation— rough and warm, with a touch of the 80’s in sound design, "more love later" has become a beautiful, harmonious and melodic love slider—suitable more for the later club hours.
