The collection kicks off with Atlas Boda's thumping bass rework that delivers an array of pounding kicks and raspy claps. Relentless pace and a deep bass line create dark undertones but maintain a dance floor mood that has become synonymous with Atlas Boda's work. The main breakdown evolves into a wonderfully eerie expanse that takes us down a proverbial black hole before launching into the main drop.

Jacob Millar's rework explores an experimental collection of percussive layers that are engaging and complicated but allow the core components of the original track to comfortably ride along. A host of carefully crafted effects and ambient sounds intertwine with varying swings in rhythm creating a dynamic sound that lives and breathes with every re-introduction of the core sub rhythm. Jacob Millar has developed a unique production style that is continuously evolving and this remix marks the beginning of his solo journey.

Sleepy Cat Remix

The EP closes out in appropriate fashion with Sleepy Cat's own revisit to his original. The song as a whole is dropped to a deeper level, with the vocals pitched down and synths carefully smoothed out at lower registers. All paths point down to cavernous hallways lined with reverberating sounds of a killer bass line that will ignite any dancefloor. Sleepy Cat's signature percussive beats slice their way through a popping kick that drives the track towards a host of eclectic environmental soundscapes gradually progressing towards the main drop.

Austin native Somatoast returns with his second Gravitas album release, ‘Goop’, available now on all digital outlets. No stranger to the experimental and psychedelic realms of electronic music, Mark Rubin draws on IDM and glitch influences to provide a seven track sonic thrill ride full of visceral soundscapes and alluring melodies. Intricate sound design is his hallmark, and with finesse he effortlessly incorporates his refined palette into both dubby and downtempo frameworks.

‘Goop’ begins with “Nodus Tollens”, a smooth and laid back opener with heavy focus on ominous ambiance. The futuristic concoction “Obscurity Security” comes next, chock full of cosmic textures which perfectly set the tone for the entire album. Wonky and upbeat, “Polytricks” resets the pace before diving into the dreamy title track, a silky creation sure to send you adrift through the galaxy. “Spunning Song” builds on the celestial theme and injects velvety, groovy basslines for a funky and fluid finish. The last original offering on the album, “Robot Rain Drops”, is at times sensual and seductive, but the blissful flow is interrupted with upbeat sections peppered throughout. Wrapping up the release, remixing artist Zonra layers his abstract atmospheric style over the already sturdy foundation provided by Somatoast for his take on “Goop”.
