The 90th installment of our mix series comes courtesy of Oxfordshire-based DJ and producer Dysfunction.

They say nothing in life is certain but death and taxes and whilst we don't claim to know just who 'they' are, we'd suggest to them that Norwich duo Mind Vortex's success seemed just as certain from the outset. If you’ve been anywhere near a drum and bass dancefloor in the past couple of years then you'll no doubt already be all too familiar with the pairing's productions as they chalked up a number of well received releases for Andy C's all conquering Ram Records imprint.

As handy in the DJ booth as they are the studio, we invited the boys to serve up a mix for our listening pleasure ahead of their hotly anticipated performance for Ram London Friday October 23rd at The Steelyard where they'll be taking to the decks alongside the likes of Calyx & Teebee, Rene LaVice and DC Breaks for what looks well set to be a night to remember. Calyx & TeeBee’s debut album ‘Anatomy’, released in 2007 on their own label was an instant game changer; cited as a landmark album for the scene ‘Anatomy’ saw the duo unleash an almighty wall of sound that rocked dance floors across the globe as they took to the road with their 6 deck DJ sets, smashing apart sound systems in nightclubs and festival tents alike.

Signing to Ram Records, Calyx & TeeBee have produced a long player that sounds fresh, current and forward-thinking. ‘All Or Nothing’ is their sophomore offering and is packed with new ideas, exciting collaborations, stunning musicality and an incredible level of technical skill. 

From the epic opening gambit, ‘Heroes & Villains’, it’s clear that Calyx & TeeBee have created something special with their new album. The D&B jazz fusion of ‘Pure Gold’ ft. Kemo contrasts beautifully with the vocal-led minimalism of ‘Strung Out’ and the hip hop excellence of ‘We Become One’, a collaboration with Foreign Beggars and DJ Craze. Then Calyx & TeeBee hit you with the rock-influenced ‘You’ll Never Take Me Alive’ featuring Beardyman, providing yet another inspired piece of deliciously different drum & bass. Each track on ‘All Or Nothing’ is crafted with expert precision and infused with a fresh and unique set of influences.

But while ‘All Or Nothing’ is packed with stand-out moments, it’s the album as a whole that becomes something far more exciting than the sum of its parts. Will Keen aka Keeno is a Bristol-based composer and producer specialising in his own blend of Orchestral Drum & Bass. He started touring globally in 2013 at some of the world's most famous clubs and festivals with his emotionally charged, musical and uplifting sets. Most recently, Keeno has been making waves with his new live show combining Live Piano + String Quartet with Drum & Bass.

Keeno's music captured the attention of Hospital Records in 2014, where he was signed at the age of 19. All 4 of his studio albums reached the top 25 in the Official Dance Albums Charts. He has gathered over 100 million streams and collaborated with Etherwood, Whiney,  Unglued, and DRS and remixed Sultan + Shepard, Above & Beyond, S.P.Y, Fred V & Grafix and Maduk.

In 2022, Keeno went on to found his own record label: Keeno Music pioneering Orchestral DnB. It launched with the immersive Courage EP, a UKF On Air set in the mountains of Andorra and his 1 Year Of Keeno Music Album featuring the co-writing talents of Makoto, In:Most, Diandra Faye & more. He’s the only artist in the world pushing this sound right now. Keeno Music's events have also been growing in popularity with 12 sold-out events in a row focussing on LIVE Orchestral Drum & Bass. Keeno’s one of a kind.
