"Chikage" sounds familiar, you've heard him before but you are not prepared for this! ISR found Chikage a while back and released a freebie entitled "Hope" just to give you a taste of what was to come from this amazing and talented artist. 

Two years in the making, "Fall Of Light" is a masterpiece. You will need a few listens to get into Chikage's mind. His grasp of details, the sound design and stereo imaging on each track was done with so much care and precision, it's outstanding! A massive melting pot of textures and such large mood board of different genres. Notice blends of deep Drum and bass, Riddim, Futur garage, but 140 remains the dominant one and somehow everything works so well together. Chikage is so consistent, his progression throughout the entire album is impeccable. You will also pick up a remix of "First contact" by one of ISR's finest artist "Wreckage" which contributes to the Chikage experience. He leads us around his own tenebrous scenery in a world packed of blackness. Chikage brings us where he wants us to be and it's fair to say, with terrifying ease!

IRON043 Chikage - Fall Of Light LP - Out Now !

"The idea when writing 'The Staircase' was to come up with a journey that transitions from a dark place to a lighter one, the album represents the struggles with anxiety and panic disorder, the belief that it's possible to get yourself back to the person you once were before those things took a hold on your life and the changes you might need to make to achieve that.

The track titles in sequence form a type of step program (one reason why the album title is called 'The Staircase') where I've tried to say things like try not to let your mind run away with all of the dread that comes with panic attacks, try to visualise yourself in a better place in the future, realise the things you need to do and need to stop doing to get where you need to be and make sure you act upon what you think is the right thing to do.

For me anxiety came on very hard and fast in late 2016, sudden bouts of heart racing, hyperventilating tingling panic would grip me and leave me delirious and honestly fearing for my life, the progression in the album reflects my progress over the last 3 years as I continued to make lifestyle changes to find what was putting me in that place and figure out how I could avoid it, it's an ongoing struggle to be honest, I don't think it will ever go away, as it's a mindset that is very hard to shake, but now I can at least manage it and understand what brings it on the most, for me that is, this progress has me in a much better place now than where I was when it all started.

So the steps laid out in the album aren't as direct as stop drinking, up your exercise regime, eat healthy etc... but more an overall look at what I think one might need to do to get to a better place, we're all different and different things trigger us, so realising what puts you there in the first place and asking yourself what you'd need to change to stop that from happening is more of the idea behind the steps.

Artistically and technically the album had to be a step up for me too, I'd fallen into a habit of lazy and sub standard production by even my standards, time and energy has been focused on the 9-5 for years and my music became poor as a result, I had to take the time to make sure I was happy with the sound, the flow of the album and the sonics too, plus I wanted every track to have something about it that either screwed my face up or stirred some emotion.

Something a little bit different for me in the make-up of this album was that the majority of the tracks were written with the track title in mind, usually I'd name a track after I finished it, but for the most part of this album I already had the tracklist down and I wrote the tracks to their names and position in the album.
I guess it's quite a serious and sobering idea behind it all, although I hope the music itself is on the right vibe for people to get down with, regardless of whether someone can relate to the struggles of anxiety or not, I hope this is something they can take some good vibes from."  - RDubz.

RDubz - Rule Thy Mind

For their first release of 2020 @strictly140 decided to go the extra mile with a very unique approach. Being a UK label and aware of the fact that Dubstep has turned into a global phenomena, for this release, they decided to showcase the talent that other places in the world had to offer.
Aiming to feature as many different textures of Dubstep as possible, ranging from dark, minimal, sub-heavy Dubstep all the way to the more experimental side of the genre - this release is a grand compilation of immense talent and potential from all over the globe. 

The compilation being as vast as it is choosing a track was quite difficult but we settled with @breezdubstep because of two reasons. One, his music is sheer delight, and two, we never had the chance to feature a track from this don.
On a second note, this compilation is so packed with talent that we just had to mention every artist involved. Big up each and every!
