AN-TEN-NAE - MEDICINE CRUNK MIXTAPE (Free DL)

Jenifa Mayanja originally born in Uganda and now more recently an official US citizen releases her 2nd album Woman Walking In The Shadows which captures emotive, subtle, narratives encased in deep House referencing various musical styles and influences on her Bumako Recordings record label. This very thoughtful and sensitive music producer has been a very prominent figure especially on the New York scene by paying her dues working at the record store Dance Tracks increasing depth and strength in musical inspirations. Cultivating the knowledge and passion and also increasing awareness with more opportunities to DJ at various parties including the legendary Body & Soul sessions headed up by Francois K, Joe Claussell, and Danny Krivit and also has represented at club Shelter Timmy Regisfords party, hotly tipped radio show appearances also came including WBAI FM and WNYU FM and also various coverage in publication from Village Voice, Time Out NYC, Straight No Chaser & Jockey Slut back in its day have all garnished praise, and props to an unique female artist in this heavily over subscribed male dominated scene.

 

Stream of Consciousness reaffirmed the first chapter of documentation in album form of Jenifa’s work which was very much well received amongst the deep House community and further a field. Next up we have Woman Walking In the Shadows, which we see as a revelation of another chapter in the life of Jenifa’s work as a lady, mother, wife, artist, producer and everything else in between. This body of work really works the subtleties, mood changes, warmth, intrinsic, timbre, distinctive, inquisitive and a whole heap of other details that will make this a true slow burn affair. Not on first glance revealing all but allowing for open interpretation and dialogue. We will not scrutinize the detail to much, as Jenifa has kindly provided an special album mix of the album and also has provided the skinny on the proud achievement of album 2 including discussing Sade, gender inequality, and of course the kids.

It is with greatest pleasure to have Omar with us this month. We have been knowing each other for a couple years now as he is also living in Berlin and it's always so nice to bump into him cause the Uruguayan is such an always happy positive human being when we see him and a real soulful digger. 

He is a vital part of the Libertine Crew, a bunch of great guys and a conceptual high quality party that we also really love and always try to attend. Lately they have been teaming up with Sleepers and it is truly amazing shit they do at the moment.

He also did beautiful recognizable podcasts for NoRules and the guys from Undersound in London.

We can't wait to see you again man and hear you play as it's always such a pleasure :)

Berlin-based DJ duo and couple Brax Moody (Munich) and Vamparela (Thessaloniki) have been collaborating together since 2007, either as a DJ duo, in bands, or as remixers and music producers. Merging the rhythm and dynamism of Munich’s hip-hop clubs with the grime and attitude of Thessaloniki’s back-alley indie bars gives an idea of how to categorize Local Suicide: a straight-up soulful fusion of new wave, slow techno, acid house, chug or as they like to call it “technodisco”.

As DJs they’ve played all over Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America and the US with gigs at Off Sonar, Melt!, Amsterdam Dance Event, Berlin Festival and regular DJ slots at Salon zur Wilden Renate, Berghain, Watergate, Ritter Butzke and almost every club the German capital has to offer.

In The MOOD - Episode 133 - Live from Awakenings presents Drumcode at Gashouder ADE 2016

Yesterday we sadly said goodbye to Ajtim aka Mitja Del Bono, who recently left London to pursue opportunities abroad. He closes this chapter with a musical send-off.

On first impressions a seeming introvert, Mitja has values in all the right places combined with a positivity that underlies his playfully intricate sets. This recording represents the last stages of his journey through London, the city where he sculpted his own sound and cultivated what can only be described as one stylish “buffalo” collection (derived from a made up Italian slang imbufalito = ‘one who is mad for digging records’). Exhibiting his unique selection, Mitja takes you on a perfect trip; he plays on emotions, moods, grooves, vocals and sounds all the while keeping the bass rolling and the aliens in check.

If you were to visit London’s Vinyl Pimp, he’d typically be one of the first people you see. Sorting through boxes of records, recommending releases behind the counter, opening and closing shop…
