Basically, I'm a child of 90's hip-hop. I always have been and always will be. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of dope hip-hop on the market today (mainstream and underground), but to me, the eight-year period spanning from 1990 - 1998 was a hip-hop Renaissance that will probably never be duplicated. And DJ Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia (AKA Cool Bob Love, AKA DJ Cucumber Slice, AKA the ten thousand other nicknames this dude has) were probably two of the most influential people in the game at that time. I'm not gonna go into a long history regarding their show on WKCR, but from 1990 - 1998, during the hours of 1-5 AM every Thursday night / Friday morning, these two, for lack of a better term, "smashed the airwaves" of the New York metropolitan area. Their show was responsible for launching the careers of Nas, Mobb Deep, Big L, Jay-Z, Big Pun, Fat Joe, The Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatnuts, Black Moon, Redman, The Wu-Tang Clan, and the list goes on and on. Since I was too young during the show's heyday, I've had to feed my addiction for this show by scouring the internets for uploaded tapes from listeners from back in the day. What I did with this mix was try to showcase some of the joints that were spun on their show beginning in 1990 and ending in 1998. I compiled all the tracks to make it seem like you're listening to an actual taping of the show. All of these tracks were played on WKCR at least once (some more than others). I even threw in some of my favorite freestyles and exclusives, which were taken directly from old cassettes. I've got a ton of these old recordings, and it was really difficult to decide what to include/exclude, but hopefully, you'll get a sense of their legendary show and the evolution of classic hip-hop over a legendary eight-year period. Also, shout out to the good peoples at <a href="http://Philaflava.org" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Philaflava.org</a> for supplying me and the rest of the Stretch &amp; Bob fiends with hundreds of old tapes. Turn that shit up....

Nofitstate asked Mohson Stars to provide a mix for there next party Saturday July 20th with Tom Trago Headlining alongside Simon Baker and Geddes. Mohson Stars has provided a groove laced Deep House and Techno promo mix showcasing sounds influenced from Detroit, NYC and of course London, mixing new and older vinyl recorded with x2 1210s, x1 Cdj and a really old beat up Behringer 4 channel mixer & some fully run in KRKs. Jus Ed runs the Underground Quality imprint and this vintage UQ release sets the tone with warmth, mellow synth lines and snug toms, a sleepy groover to open out proceedings.    

KMFH aka Kyle Hall - Crushed - Wild Oats
Kyle Hall is a young new wave Detroit producer and Crushed comes off his first long-ish player The Boat Party. This track really pushes some emotions with mega rough drum programming and silky smooth vocal samples, something to get the dialogue in place. 

Brawther Spaceman Funk (Deep Club Mix) - Secretsundaze
Brawther the Parisian producer throws it down deep on the Uk based Secretsundaze label that really starts to drive a groove and mood into the mix, the tempo raises and rises. 

Alex M - It Works - Luvdancin
This is a bomb from Alex M, some serious pads coupled with a nice catchy snatch vocal, heads down affair for this one. MCDE drops this as his opening track on his Boiler Room outing, big things, small details count. 

Jovonn - Satisfied Moodyfied Mix - Millions of Moments
Jovonn brings that NYC angle to the table and can really produce hits and after hearing this expertly crafted track on the Zip (Perlon label boss) Fabric mix the stabbing drums and simple chord line, resonate, with every listen. 

Rio Padice - Back To The Basics - Tsuba Records
Rio Padice really strips the production back to the core on this one, its all in the detail, nothing to obvious, just smart concise production.  

Skudge - Realtime - Skudge 
Skudge make Techno with a difference, its straight up got bags of vybe and swing. 

Mike Huckaby - Baseline 88- Synth 
Mike Huckaby is the Detroit go to guy, he teaches software classes to kids in the 'D' and can also throw down some mean production himself, Baseline 88 really rolls the synth's out, simple, strong and energising.  

Nail - Till The Feeling Is Gone - Fear Of Flying 
Nail brings some Garage type feeling to this mix with nice high end and a cool vocal to really break up the rhythm and pace, dont miss the drop. 

Focus - Marvin Is One - Versatile Records 
Focus is mr Phil Asher Deep House legend and this vintage gem never sounds old with an itchy unforgettable vocal & timeless cowbell over the rolling bassline. 

Mike Dehnert - Charger - Fachwerk 
Mike Dehnert runs Fachwerk and also has a very distinct Techno style, its firm but not hard its direct but not agressive it balances well and add punch to the soundscape. 

Classic Man - Rapid Winds  - Mule Musiq Japan
Classic Man is a producer from New York and Rapid Winds is a straight up Deep House track licensed on the new Dj Sprinkles compilation on Mule Musiq Japan, a rare gem that is a true tip for the heads.  

The Nathaniel X Project - Eye Lust - Undertones
This track just brings the dancefloor alive its extremely well produced to sound so effervescent and effortless, more pure vybes jacked up on sex. 

Groove Chronicles - 1999 - Groove Chronicles
This is a classic underground Uk Garage track, its bass line all the way, we start to inject some fun into the session with this outing switching the mood. 

Mike Huckaby - Sandcastle 1996 The Culture Box RE Edit - Synth
Mike Huckaby again moves the direction forward with this no nonsense track that sounds great on big soundsystem. 

Did You See That - Unknown - Unknown 
This unknown promo has a great vocal sample that adds some spice to the mix as we get deep into the 2nd half. 

Aftershock - Slave To The Vibe (Dem 2 Mix)  VC Recordings 
Dem 2 on remix duties and as ever the Garage shuffle and vocals are tightly produced nothing out of place or sloppy, sounds crisp on every listen, Dem 2 are a benchmark standard.  

A Guy Called Gerald - 4Music
This is a House classic, no words, just recognise that angst eager female vocal on its way.  

Baaz - Just Around - Sthlmaudio Recordings
Baaz is raising his profile with a track on the new Rick Wilhite compilation which are consistently super deep, this older release is still a great transitional tool pushing the deepness. 

Midland - Trace - Aus Music
This track will be a summer hit, Midland keeps pushing the pace with heavy baslline and detail, i can see the sweat dripping from the warehouse walls with this track. 

The Vox Attitude - Pangaea Remixes - Eerie 
Pangaea on remix duty here and this is straight up high energy material, an instant game changer, the floor should be busy and engaging by this point. Eerie a future label to watch. 

Joy Orbison - Donnell - Unknown
Joy Orbison rips the Donnell Jones vocal to create a new Future Garage interpretation to end the mix on a warm high.
