The Irish Traditional Music Archive – Taisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann – is a national reference archive and resource centre for the traditional song, instrumental music and dance of Ireland.

Established in 1992, the Ward Irish Music Archives houses the largest public collection of Irish music in America. It is named after John J. Ward Jr., father of Irish Fest founder Ed Ward. The archive currently consists of more than 40,000 Irish music recordings and pieces of memorabilia ranging from rare 78 rpm's, LP's and sheet music to song books, instruments, and concert memorabilia. Many of the archives items are extremely difficult to find today, and our diverse collections focus on subjects such as Irish traditional music, Irish folk songs, Scottish music, and Irish contributions to American popular music.

I am a freelance composer, performer, writer and music lecturer. I have had performances around the world and have been broadcast on many national radio stations. My work has been performed by the likes of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Martyn Brabbins, Paul Daniel, Grant Llewellyn, Miekko Kanno, Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, Andrew Ball, Mexico City Wind Quintet, Hanson Quartet, Latin American String Quartet, Asako Arai, Charles Matthews, Caroline Jones to name but a few.

I work in many genres from Orchestral to solo to electronic and have also worked in the Rock/Metal music over the years as well as the world music scene. I am also a flautist who specialises in 19th/20th century repertoire and is a specialist in extended and contemporary techniques.

I am a multi instrumentalist and this I have tried to put to good use in my Albums "Mead Hall: Laments Lays and Idylls" and "...Of an Older England".

‘Knight, Briggs et al’ has been set up to house archival recordings of the folk and traditional music associated with the Knight family of Surrey and the Briggs family of Newcastle upon Tyne.

The collection includes music from the Knight Brothers (Simon, Chris, Andrew & Patrick) and the Briggs Sisters (Anna, Lesley, Astrid, Gael, Stephanie & Claire), amongst others.

Furthermore, the archive serves as a platform for John Knight's culturally priceless 1970's and 80's folk club, tune session and kitchen table recordings, which are slowly but surely being digitised by his descendants.
