Guava is a producer and guitarist from the UK, now based in Berlin. With releases on 3024, Tread Records, Rhythm Section, Control Freak Recordings... he has been sharing his unique style through productions for years and now also with a guitar-based live set. Made of warm basslines, dreamy pads, sharp drums and lots of ear candy, "Stratospheric Pressure" is signature of this style and an ode to flying and planes, one of his passions.

Coming up on their 25th release in a couple of weeks, Berlin-based label Killekilll, by now, has become a synonymous source for techno and electro in the German capital. Headed up by Nico Deuster, who's been catering to the city's party needs for almost twenty years,  the Killekill brand has gone from a weekly club night at Berghain Kantine to a fully-fledged physical platform with multiple offshoot labels such as Killekill House Trax and Krake. The latter comes as a result of a festival they kicked off of the same name in 2010; a Berlin-based festival for experimental dance music and abstract electronica. Over those twenty-five releases names such as Neil Landstrumm, Snuff Crew, Bill Youngman, Alex Cortex  and Eomac have all been welcomed into the Killekill fold, some of those returning for the Killekill Megahits II compilation which marks this 25th release. The milestone number also comes as a turning point for Killekill as they get set to split the label into a line of several new offshoots writing: “We are constantly getting too many demos full with good music in way too many different styles to squeeze them onto one label. So finally we have come to the point where we will start a line of new labels with different profiles to give ourselves the opportunity to feature even more daring artists and release whatever we like in the most suitable outfit for it." Featuring twelve tracks, we've been given the opportunity to premiere one of those from French producer Umwelt. Owner of two labels (New Flesh and Rave Or Die),with three albums under his belt, Umwelt comes through with a sublime cut of melancholic electro.

Here's a new one from me. I've been asked about this one loads recently and it's actually a remix rather than an original production. I was asked by Nervous Records to pick a track from their back catalogue to remix, for their 25 year anniversary celebrations. Initially it was a daunting task considering how many iconic tracks they've released over the years. After a few days digging, I remembered this ambient interlude mix that Francois K did of Kim English back in '97, and I always loved the chords that come in towards the end. It's the first time I have done a remix of a remix, hope you enjoy!

Zeta Reticula - EP 2 A1 (Helena Hauff Dekmantel Boiler Room)

Taking their name from the neighbouring family of galaxies that contains the Milky Way, London duo Local Group may sound parochial but unleash cosmic scale energies on their debut 12”.

Inspired by their sets at UK festival Field Maneuvers, the 'dirty little rave' that the duo are residents at (playing alongside the likes of Mark Archer and Storm), title track 'Laser Dome' distills their unashamed love of hardcore's E fuelled rush into a haze of piano euphoria. Underground electro hero Dexorcist remixes it for the 140bpm crew, a rude bouncing bassline and hyper breakbeats keeping its continuum credentials in check.

On the flip 'Random Utterances' nods to the slower, darker, proggier breakbeat favoured by Tyrant at the start of the new millennium, bubbling acid bass, arpeggios, moody strings and '80s synth pop combining with interludes of lucid drug philosophising and distorted 808 bass. 'Rampage' signs off with a potent dose of pure jump up energy, a 150bpm Reese bassline tear out, complete with MC hype, drawing on the pair's love of jungle.

Local Group - 'Laser Dome'

Fresh from her 'Raw Silk Uncut Wood' LP for Latency, Laurel Halo switches focus directly to the dance floor on this new collaborative EP with Livity Sound regular Hodge. The culmination of a series of recording sessions in Berlin, the pair have produced a record that burns with the energy and dynamics their respective DJ sets are known for, rounding out the year for the label in style.
