As someone who served 40 years ago, Jonesy200 has noticed something deeply concerning — governments across the world, including Australia, are struggling to find enough suitable recruits for military service. Standards have dropped, not because the services want that, but because society has shifted. A generation raised without boundaries, without discipline at home, and without resilience is now being sent into one of the most demanding environments on earth.

Maybe it’s time to reconsider. Maybe it’s time to bring back real home discipline — not cruelty, but structure. Let parents parent. Let them teach resilience, grit, and emotional strength again. Because soldiers don’t just need training — they need something already built inside before they even arrive.

And perhaps, just perhaps, if we brought that back into homes, we’d not only have stronger recruits — we’d have a society with fewer mental health issues. More young people with the ability to handle life’s challenges, setbacks, and responsibilities with courage, not collapse.

It’s not a political statement. It’s just an opinion.
But maybe it’s one worth thinking about.
