Slight re-edit of the Paradise Garage classic, Padlock, by Gwen Guthrie (aka First Lady of the Paradise Garage), with Sly & Robbie on the production and Larry Levan assisting in the mix.

A bit of slicing, some rearranging, extending, playing around with some slight overdubbing and some slight added percussion, is what's here. This is one of those tracks that I started and thought, "no, i shouldn't touch it" and then I left it alone. I just came back to it again and decided I'd finish what I'd started and upload it, if for no other reason than someone might discover this amazing tune for the first time. 

As always, if you enjoy the tune, do yourself and the artist a favor and buy their music! This whole Mini LP is phenomenal and belongs in everyone's collection!

One of my favorite non-dance songs from the 80's from one of my favorite Smooth Jazz groups. Hiroshima released a few 12" extended version of their songs back in the mid-80's, but none of them really made it big.
I remember hearing this song for the first time during a nightly radio program called "New York After Dark" on 98.7 Kiss FM in NYC. After just one listen I kknew I had to have this record. The next day I owned the album on CD and vinyl...and when the 12" became available I had that too. 

I did this mix quite awhile ago really just for my own pleasure. Its not a big project but now the song really works in a mix environment.

Who knows, maybe a few more peeps will pick this up this time around....
