영국의 화가 데이비드 호크니는 엘에이의 말리부 언덕을 굽이굽이 달리는 드라이브에서 자신이 선곡한 음악을 튼다고 한다. 
출발시간에서부터 신비한 풍경이 펼쳐지는 각 구간에 도달하는 타이밍과 해가지는 대미까지 계산된 음악의 전개는 그가 함께 탄 사람에게 실시간으로 선사하는 하나의 작품이다. 

나에게 음악을 듣기에 자동차만큼 완벽한 공간은 없었다.
미국의 주를 넘나드는 인터스테이트 하이웨이는 물론,  
홈타운 동부이촌동에서 마냥 혼자 있고 싶을 때 찾아가는 파주 만우리까지, 
강변북로의 한강에서 임진강변을 달리는 차창이 스크린이고 그 너머 풍경이 미장센이 되는 여정은 온전히 시네마틱한 음악감상의 한시간이다.
