SUOLA is a mineral composed of cinematic stories created by Martin Riedler and Vilja Larjosto. Their electronic vocal music and experimentations since 2014 range from beatless ballads to hypnotic club music.
Larjosto is a Finnish singer and landscape architect, known from collaborations with Lusine (US) and Feater (AT). Riedler is known for his productions under various pseudonyms f.e. Certain Subjects, RJC or his latest `Blacklight Chameleon.
The two met in 2006 at a media and arts festival in Hallein, Austria, where they recorded vocals for Orakel's debut album (4Lux 2011) in a salt factory. SUOLA (fin. for Salt) processing was re- established in 2014 when Larjosto moved to Berlin and started frequenting Vienna. In 2016, Larjosto and Riedler spent ten days in an artist's residence on an uninhabited island in the Finnish archipelago, observing rocks, watching for viper snakes, drumming on stones, working on field recordings or writing little poems.
