Kellersinfonie °42 - STRAWBERRY PUNCH

I recently got a residency at one of my favorite clubs, the Bahnwärter Thiel. 
Saturday I played the opening and this is what happened.

Wow, that was exciting and wonderful!

LOKD brought fernab a lovely night of joy after this long dry spell. Moreover, they gave me the opportunity to play for the first time wherefore I'm super grateful. I'm still speechless and I also want to thank all the smiling people who were dancing in front of me. Big hug!

It’s been 3 weeks, and I’m still vibrating - still a little incredulous about playing live at Kater Blau, a venue that has been on my bucket list since it was still called Kater Holzig. It’s home to so many great artists I admire, a place that has long extended its magic beyond Berlin’s borders, and I am so honored to have had the opportunity to fill it with my music. 

I’ve been thinking about putting my live set together for a long time, so when the opportunity to premier it at Kater knocked on my door, it was crunch time. 2 months to conceptualize, dissect, render, rehearse - most of that time was spent on figuring out what doesn’t work. Many times I thought about changing to a DJ-Set instead, but ultimately, and last minute as always, I got to a point where I felt comfortable enough to take it out of my little garage studio here in Brooklyn all the way to my home country’s capital. 

These two hours on the Heinz Hopper floor went by lightning fast, and it all feels a little dreamlike still. Of course it wouldn’t be a live set without a few hiccups here and there (see if you can spot my „launching a whole scene, instead of just one clip“-mistake in the early part of the set haha), but I think that’s what makes it come alive in the first place. I learned so much from this experience, and got back to my studio/garage with plenty of ideas on how to grow from here. I want this to be a malleable work-in-progress, evolving together with me - unique, non-repeatable, moment-capturing, responsive, alive. 

Thank you to everyone to came out and got hot and sweaty with me on the hottest weekend in Berlin, literally and figuratively. A warm welcome indeed.
Thanks to all the artists who were involved in this event - you inspire me, you make me push myself, you made this weekend one for the books!

This is the recording of my Acidbogen debut, Saturday 28. Oct, 6-8 am.

A special one for me. Not only because of having been able to play on this boiling floor full of old and new smiling faces surrounding me, creating that kind of atmosphere that I absolutely love when playing (people in front, next, behind and -it felt like - on top of me). But moreover because of being able to play before @ninze & @niju-1, whose music has brought me one of the first otherworldly emotional downtempo experiences I have ever had. That was years ago. Ever since, I admired their musical craft. Fast forward. 

Meanwhile, my own artistic identity has evolved and I can read my name next to those who, among many others over time, have inspired me in the very beginning. Thank you @talderverwirrung, especially @ju_nixe, for giving me this opportunity!

The request came kind of short term and my first impulse was that it would be too much, playing twice on an already packed weekend and having to deal with grief over the recent loss of a very special person in my life. A person, whom I connect my very early musical memories with. 
However, some inner voice told me to turn on the "full power mode" and so I got things settled and decided to let my intuition guide me through the musical journey. And it did! 
I hope you enjoy my truly emotionally mixed expedition into spheres of grief and sadness, anger and vulnerability, but also cheerfulness and peace, at last.
This one is for you. 🕊️

✔️ Thanks for this very special set @schmeckefuchs. What was your take on this interpretation of a great Afterhour?

Thanks for the opportunity to create a set that is explicitly NOT meant for the dancefloor.

I incorporated some (admittedly a bit trickier to mix) tracks that have accompanied me in recent month and that I feel contain some thoughts and emotions that resonate with me.

My intention was to create a piece that holds space for more difficult emotions like sadness, doubt, Weltschmerz, loneliness and longing, topped off with some tracks that just sound super sweet in general ;) For me self-empathy is important to let these feelings have their room, to pay attention to what they want to tell us, in order to let them pass.

✔️ How did you get your DJ name - what meaning does it have?

The name Schmeckefuchs was administered by my aunt and uncle, because little Felix was very interested in delicious food. This quirk has somehow remained.

✔️ How did your DJ style develop over time?

That is not easily answered. I generally want to spread music that moves me and touches me. I noticed a strong shift post-pandemic where I feel like the tracks I dig are generally more vocal based and emotional. A bit more cute and fluffy and generally less dark than before the break.

✔️ What vibe (place) where you thinking of, when curating this podcast?

I was thinking of a room full of friends.

Der Frühling ist schneller eingekehrt als vermutet und erheitert das Gemüt - so lässt sich’s doch gleich viel besser verleben 🌞 Der richtige Soundtrack für die sonnigen Stunden kommt von Lazy Hazy.
Der in der Schweiz beheimatete Musiker war schon als Jungspund fasziniert von Percussion- und Djembe Sounds. Zusätzlich spielt er E-Bass und Gitarre und erweiterte dadurch seinen musikalischen Horizont. Bereits mit ca. 15 Jahren entstand die Begeisterung für elektronische Klänge, daraus erwuchs die Leidenschaft des Musik-Connaisseurs vom Zuhörer zum Akteur hinter den Decks zu wechseln. Seitdem ist seine wohl größte Sternstunde als DJ eindeutig das MIT DIR - Festival, auf dem er mit seiner Crew den Mühlenfloor gestaltete und musikalisch begleitete. Die logische Konsequenz seiner musikalischen Expertise mündet 2020 in der eigenen Musikproduktion - man darf sicher gespannt sein, was wir noch von diesem Allorunder noch zu hören bekommen. 
Das was wir zurzeit schon hören, lässt unsere Herzen höher schlagen. Ein bisschen Lazy Hazy mit verspulten Downtempo-Bretter-Disco schickt euch mit seinem extended Igelkarussell in andere Sphären. 3 Stunden geballte Power gespickt mit Stilwechseln die einem nie erahnte Gernekombinationen aufzeigen. Immer schön faul bleiben Leute!
