Closing set of what I have defined as "Mystical Bass" at Earthdance Mabon Equinox 2014 in the Heart of Dragon Land, Cambrian Mountains, Wales, UK. Following an epic Live performance by Brujo’s Bowl @brujosbowl, I was blessed to channel this mix under the luminous sun during the afternoon of the 21st September, the Autumn Equinox, the International Day of Peace, and also my Birthday =) A magical gathering aligned with Earthdance International and also with the ancient pagan rituals of Mabon.

Inspired by musical influences coming from the Romani people, commonly known as Gypsies. In many of the places the Romanies have lived, they have been known as notable musicians, blending a spectrum of sonic elements connected to the wide distances travelled. It all started with the Indian roots from Rajasthan, then adding and influencing elements of Persian, Middle East, Egyptian, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Russian, Romanian, the Balkans, many other countries in East Europe, even American folk, amongst other zones worldwide. It all explains why it is so difficult to define the parameters of an unified Romani musical style, as there are many differences in melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, and formal structures from region to region.

This mix features Tribal Romani elements, ranging from classic instrumental interpretations to wide electronic subgenres fusions; including sounds and rhythms of Rajasthan, Persia & the Middle East, Egypt, Turkish Gypsy, Russian Gypsy, Spanish Flamenco, Balkan Gypsy & Psychedelic Gypsy. 
All coming from the creations of virtuoso musicians, outstanding producers and masters of rhythm.

Opening set of the urban festival “Psychometric PicNic 2015” at the mighty Saint Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool, UK. This enchanted Gothic Church was badly damaged during the Liverpool Blitz in 1941 and it remains as a roofless shell, standing as a memorial to those who were lost in the Second World War... For his latest remix the These-Eyes label owner combines pop elements from Sailor & I's original version with subtly inserted synth-chords that on the one hand schmooze Sailor & I's vocals and on the other hand harmonize smoothly them, without taking away their needed space to enfold. The result is a remix that works either on the dance floor or anywhere else. Chapeau!

About the Ep
Now well established amongst taste making DJs and in-the-know dancers, connected continues to impress with its latest EP from Florian Busse.
This is Busse’s second EP on this label this year after ‘Heus’ back in August and again it shows a development to his sound. It is one that has a real focus on fine sonic sculpting, and comes after outings on This And That and Younion. The German’s ability to imbue his tracks with real emotion and narrative is on display once again here.
Opening up the EP is anthem in the making ‘Jamieja’ Feat. Lisette Santiago where
Florian provides a memorable marimba groove that runs through the whole track. It’s underpinned by a calm bassline and rough, overdriven drums that together create a powerful groove over which New York percussionist and singer Lisette Santiago performs an atmospheric take on a traditional Afro/Caribbean song to haunting effect.
The equally standout ‘Royalty’ has lovingly precise and detailed drums and insistent synth line filtering that has the lead stuttering, fading and climbing before succumbing to emptiness. It then lifts once more as pixelated chords and melodies build intensityresulting in a sparse yet arresting cut designed to make a real impact. Then comes a Bouncy Mix of ‘Jamieja’ with added weight in the drums and an uncompromising synth line throughout. Lisettes’s vocals still provide the atmosphere but this time on top of a more popping after hours groove.
All three of these cuts are masterfully crafted and offer something fresh and exciting
for dance floors.
