Eight new compositions by Kelly Thoma rising from the depths of the ocean of music.
Influenced by various modal traditions, Kelly and eleven exceptional musicians interpret her compositions as well as improvise with virtuosity and sensitivity. 
Each composition is named after a specific fish and the last piece called "S", which reveals the movement of the fish, seeks to take the listener to the most profound recesses of his personal ocean.

Biography Talya G.A Solan

Born in Rehovot, Israel, Talya G.A Solan  is one of the fresh, fascinating voices in the Israeli ‘World Music scene. 
a graduate of Tel-Aviv University's Art Faculty, Israel. Student of Mrs. Rachel Hochman.

In  2004 she established the Israeli ethnic ensemble and begun performing  especially Gypsy & Balkan repertoire. Few years later the ensemble developed a unique style derived from ancient Jewish sources, contemporary Israeli music, original material,  Arabic & Balkan music as well. 
The colorful Mediterranean tapestry presented by the ensemble enhanced the curiosity of  festivals programmers and the group was invited to various festivals around the world: 
Italy, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Malta, Slovenia, Poland, Bosnia Herzegovina, USA.

Talya  took part in fascinating collaborations such 21 songs of love concert with Krakow Modern Symphonic orchestra, Behind the time with  Jean-Louis Matinier and Stefano Maurizi and with international group of 7sois 7luas festival featuring flamenco singer, Juan Pinilla Martin.

 Talya’s singing is versatile and multi-colored. She elegantly   gallops from Yemenite trills to Bulgarian folk songs. Through singing, she expresses her roots (Bulgarian and Yemenite) and her curious soul.

Her performances derive from a wide range of traditions and musical heritages: folk songs, Gypsy songs, the Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) music, liturgical songs for holidays and weekdays from the Jewish religious texts (the Song of Songs, verses from Psalms etc) and other songs of roots and tradition are the main basis upon which Talya establishes her singing and her musical materials.

Kelly Thoma was born in Piraeus in 1978. Since 1995, she has been studying the lyra with Ross Daly and three years later  started travelling with him and his group, “Labyrinth”, participating in concerts in Europe, Asia, Australia and the U.S. She has taken part in many projects with musicians from various different traditions from other countries.
Being a member of "Labyrinth" and Labyrinth Musical Workshop she has  had the chance to meet many important musicians such as the Trio Chemirani, Omer Erdogdular, Derya Turkan, Zohar Fresco, Pedram Khavar Zamini, Dhruba Ghosh, Ballake Sissoko, Erdal Erzincan, Mehmet Erenler, Hossein Arman,Yurdal Tokcan, Ustad Mohammed Rahim Khushnawaz and many more. She participates in many of Ross Daly's projects : Ross Daly Quartet, Seyir, Iris, White Dragon (...) as well as in TOKSO string quartet, (with Anne Hytta, Sigrun Eng and Eleonore Billy).She has  graduated from the English Literature department of the Athens University as well as from the ”Rallou Manou” Dance School.
Her first album titled Anamkhara was released in 2009. It is comprised of seven of her own compositions with the participation of great masters Zohar Fresco, Efren Lopez, Pedram Khavar Zamini, Ahmet Erdogdular and Ross Daly.
The term "contemporary modal music" has been created by Ross Daly and describes the sum total of contemporary compositions created today by musicians working within various modal traditions. This music is the continuation of the procedure of modal composing through a very free perspective and is not at all connected with the goal of "preserving traditions". It is the contemporary expression of the beauty of modality (phrase-orientated non-harmonic music which often employs non-tempered intervals).
Kelly's lyras are made by Stelios Petrakis and Leonidas Spanos.
The design of this type of lyra was created by Ross Daly in 1991. The first one was constructed in Athens by Nikos Bras. This lyra has three playing strings (A-D-G) and 12 to 22 sympathetic strings.
