The industrial town of Sittingbourne, Kent today spits out ramshackle indie-punks Get Inuit, who bring with them details of their debut release on Alcopop Records and its lead track ‘Dress of Bubblewrap’. In keeping with the track’s titular bubbles of air, it fizzes and pops throughout – an effervescent slice of indie-pop that flirts with darker off-kilter, math-rock-esque tendencies.
 
Get Inuit release their debut EP 001 on February 9th, with a full-length tentatively scheduled for next summer. It sees the group combine the bouncy indie and punk influence of their Alcopop brethren with the surf-pop sway of Vampire Weekend and their ilk – despite the fact that, as the band are eager to point out, “none of us can actually surf”.

The Ambient Zone is a beautiful journey into ambient and electronica inspired by universal themes of calmness, purity, relaxation and enrichment where Weightless is coupled with some exclusive first releases and other blissfully ambient tracks from Just Music artists and alumni.

Created instinctively and intuitively by Marconi Union, Weightless has been claimed to have therapeutic properties in the way the track almost appears to have a heartbeat running through it which slows down very gently throughout the piece, encouraging a deep sense of relaxation in the body, It's use of specific rhythms, beep bass tones, frequencies and intervals induce an almost trance like state in the listener.

Lala By is a collective band of 9 musicians and singers based in Berlin and directed by Steev Mercier. Alongside the 9 core members there are a fluctuating number of contributing performers adding additional instrument, dramatic and vocal elements to the groups theatrical sound (the single ʻPendulumʼ in fact features 5 additional performers). Lala By have previously recorded 2 albums together and collaborated on scoring film soundtracks.

The ʻPendulumʼ single opens with the original version, a rich fusion of dark edged indie and operatic psychedelia that shows the bands broad influences and substantial talent. The mix of live bass and drums, with distorted electric guitar parts and haunting percussive melodies provides the perfect bed for the somewhat gothic spoken word vocals and ethereal female backing, penetrating and impressive stuff.

The first of the remixes comes from Berlin based Italian producer Massimiliano Pagliara , who is fresh off of his his brilliant full length album on Live at Robert Johnson. For Pendulum, he lifts the top melody and vocal parts from the original and reworks them into a superb slo mo house version that uses acidic riffs, strings and uplifting retro synth lines to bring things to a climax.

Next up we have My Favorite Robot Finnish collaborator Hi-Fi Dirt at the controls, delivering a twisted electro inspired version that journeys into the realms of alternative electronica with its use of edited parts and heavy FX, quality and engaging stuff.

The penultimate mix comes from French DJ/Producer and label favorite Chloe who turns in a superb techno influenced remix that uses a rolling loop of effects along with tight drums to provide a base for the distinctive vocals.

Finally we have Plastique de Reve reworking ʻPendulumʼ into a wonderful italo disco infused house cut. Old school bass, and analogue bleepy riffs rub up again vocal snippets from the original to create a genuinely uplifting and floorfilling anthem!

Lala Byʼs ʻPendulumʼ is released on My Favorite Robot Records in December 2011.

So I think when Wilson slows people down, it gives you a chance to watch them moving through space. And there's something to be said for slowing down the world."

This is a loop-able drone I created just for the sake of ambient noise. I wanted to recreate the almost womb-like comfort of nodding off to the sound of a box fan, air conditioner, or some other mechanical white noise. Actually, when choosing the different channels and mixing their levels, I was thinking of the ambient, cyclical hum of the Enterprise from ST:TNG.
