Since leaving Richie Hawtin’s M_nus family, Magda has set about forging her own distinctive path in electronic music. Unshackled from minimal techno expectations (not that she could ever be defined so narrowly), she has found freedom in this new chapter of her career. Whether its curating myriad unusual sounds on her Items & Things label alongside Marc Houle and Troy Pierce, developing her own premium tequila brand or designing a custom DJ controller, all of her output is imbued with a sense of adventure and exploration. 
Her effort for Balance indulges both the cerebral, boundary-pushing side of her musical make-up, and the more dancefloor focused one - which is, of course, not without its kooks, quirks and moments of oddity.

Miltiades Merentitis aka Miltiades was born in the early 80's and is a higly promising producer striking the international electronic music scene with his first release, on Greek label Nous, entitled EPK.X. His sound falls between Deep House and Deep Techno with melancholic elements and a clear influence from the Detroit scene with releases on Nous/Echovolt/Synapsis/Bliq/Freebeat.

With a style reminiscent of iconic IDM and, more specifically, the vintage years of Rephlex Records, ‘Untitled’ is an eight minute opus, utilising a variety of hissed-out samples and compositional flourishes to well and truly encapsulate a days-gone-by era of dance music. We’re treated to some genuinely euphoric breaks and crunching acid squelches when the central groove really gets underway, the combination of which really does evoke a track that could have easily been around for twenty years or more. Boding well for the rest of the imminent release, ‘Untitled’ certainly marks @low-tape as one to watch for the future.

"It feels like I started all over from scratch," Kerri Chandler told us in a recent interview. He was of course referring to his relationship with Circo Loco, the Italian party brand based out of DC-10 in Ibiza. After a period of persuasion Chandler agreed to play for the crew at their 2010 opening/closing party and has since become an integral part of the family, making multiple appearances throughout the 2011 season and generally stepping up his worldwide DJ presence. It was evident in our talking with Chandler that the partnership had rejuvenated him in many ways, although that's not to say he was somehow struggling before. Chandler is known as one of New Jersey/New York's most celebrated and important house music practitioners, with a recording career stretching back to 1991 and a classics-lined discography to prove it. As part of our on-going VS series, Chandler will link up with Chez Damier—himself a revered house music institution—for a back-to-back session this coming Saturday night at BeCool in Barcelona for our annual off-Sonar soiree. 

Rolling, timeless house music is the order of the day on RA.315, a warm-up to this Saturday's festivities and a showcase of where Chandler is at in 2012."
