mexCalito is a young, authentic as well as talented DJ and Producer. When he is not performing he spends all his time at the second home – the studio. He ́s living and breathing techno music and creates enthusiastically his own music stuff. In the electronic music scene of Cologne and Koh Phangan mexCalito is a well-known and familiar name. He walks through his life with a hedonistic lightness. A marvellous togetherness is essential and also necessary for him. He bubbles with energy and is an integral part in organizing parties. His sound is characterized by frisky and rolling basses and a experimental hypnotic groove. He takes the crowed on its tapestry of sounds and fabricate a sensational atmosphere. His unique music style is a composition between Techno, Zenon, Minimal and a kind of haunting psychedelic groove. Driving psycho synthy tones with bubbling and fizzy sounds arisen from another world and also a freakish and impelling groove guarantee a physical experience on the journey...!

As some of you may know Ken Zo has a focus on the fusion of techno and psychedelic genres to create PsyTech.
For this EP I am trying to combine drumcode (the label) type percussion with dark prog basslines and large spacious progressive house melodies and of course lots of psy-ish FX earcandy

Misunderstood [preview]

This is the DJ set I played to warm up for Vini Vici for 'The Darkwoods Festival' by Secret Models in Mauritius on the 6th October 2018.

I'd like to thank all of you for your kind words and massive response to the music. And I also thank Secret Models for the trust in giving me the warm up slot. Thanks to Tahir for allowing me record my set with his recorder.

Ken Zo - Born in Mauritius

One of the leading DJs & Producers in Mauritius and pioneering local underground electronic music culture. With nearly 15 years of DJing under his belt, He has been involved in most of the bigger events in Mauritius, and was also co-organiser for events that hosted big names like Grouch, Breger, Evil Oil Man, Merkaba. He was also part of the organisation of E K T A Festival 2015, one of the first 3 day electronic music event hosted in Mauritius.

Usually known for his compositions with a defining take on Psytech, his DJ sets on the other hand exude versatility and he covers many genres from deep house to full on psychedelic trance with all genres in between.

In 2017, he was awarded the Backstage Award for Best DJ. 

He grew up surrounded by music. His mother was his first music teacher going over the basics of piano and singing. His parents enrolled him for violin classes at the age of 7 at the Conservatoire de Musique Francois Mitterrand where he also learnt music theory in french. At the age of 13 he moved on to the Conservatoire de Musique Frederic Chopin where he was trained in piano and music theory in English,

Simultaneously during his teen years, Fabrice experimented with many genres - pop, rock, rnb - and played in many amateur bands and orchestras playing guitar, violin and keys.

He started DJing and producing in 2007 under the alias Mr.Snob playing commercial and progressive house as well as an occasional techno set here and there. The beginning was mostly birthday parties and school fairs with very rare club gigs. His career started picking up around 2011 just when he flew off to Melbourne Australia for his studies. He performed throughout Australia under his knew alias Ken Zo, finding his place within the niche psychedelic community playing fusion sets of techno and psy.
