Ladada is Virginia Beach native Josiah Schlater. After years of recording and touring in other bands (MAE, We Are Trees, Jake Clemons), Schlater has now settled into a lively, sun-drenched sound of his own. Taking inspiraton from early Motown and 60's garage rock, he squeezed a drum kit, a couple guitars, a 4-track, and a netbook into a small storage unit and began recording what became Ladada.

To teleport to 60's even faster, when Robert Moog was inventing Model D, I played MiniMoog, Moog Modular (and other synths by Arturia and Korg). Played my blue Fender Strat to signify the times, when Jimi Hendrix was grinding his teeth over his black one. Pushing flowers to the guns with Electronic and Psychedelic Rock is still needed. Imagined all thru my prism of future Deep Disco and Indie Dance vibe. Drums and all prod done in Ableton Live, mastering with IK Multimedia tools.

"The Beatles didn't make a good record of it. I think subconsciously sometimes we - I say 'we,' though I think Paul did it more than the rest of us; Paul would... sort of subconsciously try and destroy a great song.
He subconsciously tried to destroy songs, meaning that we'd play experimental games with my great pieces, like Strawberry Fields - which I always felt was badly recorded. That song got away with it and it worked. 'Dreamers' is a track that can best be described as a 'challenge accepted'. Jerry spotted an opportunity on Songtradr and asked if I was interested in creating something for it.  We had to create something similar to Beach House's 'Myth'. The only thing was, we had way less than a day to get this done, and I was only just getting my voice back after losing it through illness. So this is what we came up with, and submitted it with 3 mins to spare. Hope you enjoy our creation and thanks so much to Jerry for getting me to sing again :) Peace and love x
