Several deaths in my life in the past month... tragic.  This piece reflects my state of mind, reflecting normalcy, struggle, resignation, acceptance, hope and the beatific vision. Inspired over the past weekend with learning of another tragic death close to home.  We all feel the loss, no matter how far the geographic distance or state of personal familiarity.

A friend of a friend who i have never met, Sandra, [she is on Soundcloud as well] sent me some of her songs recently. A wonderful piano player i might add, so i put some trumpet/flugelhorn on top and this is how one of my favourite more contemporary Christmas songs turned out.

Christmas Time Is Here

2020: Retrospective: This is an instrumental piece with piano, trumpet and bassoon that I composed at the beginning of December 2020 which eventually got lost in the Christmas season. In hindsight, I then realized it was a bit of a musical expression retrospective of the past year. A time to reflect on the many things that needed change in the world but also swimming in the murkiness, the crazy ups and downs, grief and loss of what was left of a very uncertain future. 

For all of you who have not taken down your Christmas tree or turned off your Christmas lights yet (you know who you are! :) there is a little Canadiana surprise gift at the very end, just for you. :)
