Although not as popular as he should be, Carrier is revered by connoisseurs as one of the most gifted producers in the dance scene.

House music started in Chicago, but what gets lost in history lessons is how it evolved and mutated in New York. None of that would have happened without Todd Terry. Bringing together hip-hop and house with his distinctive drum sounds, Terry not only created a whole subgenre (hip-house—check out Jungle Brothers' 1988 classic "I'll House You") but helped redefine the sound as a whole, bringing it to the mainstream with a string of classic remixes that stretched well into the '90s.

Through his catalogue of records as Hard House, Orange Lemon, Bombshell, Masters At Work (before Louie Vega and Kenny Dope would take that name) and many others, Terry built a discography unlike any other in dance music. Even if you only have a vague idea of who he is, you've definitely heard a record of his, probably ten. (That legendary remix of Everything But The Girl's "Missing?" That's him too.) His sound is loose, punchy and often deliriously catchy, rooted in the ethos of the classic hip-hop he started out playing.

Terry's RA Podcast focuses on a golden era of house from the late '80s to the early '90s, including classic cuts from Marshall Jefferson, Inner City, Crystal Waters and, of course, Terry himself. There's also a modern update from Amine Edge & DANCE. As he says in the interview below, it's a way to "show where house came from." Whether you're a newcomer or have heard these tracks hundreds of times before, there's nothing like hearing them from an innovator of the form.

It's that time again... I've dropped this a day early due to a hectic weekend of gigs and to make sure it's available for your Halloween weekend!

This mix contains 23 tracks that I'm feeling and as always from a variety of genres. I'm rinsing some of these bangers on the dance-floor right now and the others I'm just absolutely in love with.

My mixtape's are my 80 minute journey of music, my way to explore, express and share my passion. From all sub genres of house music to my outro's which usually go deep and downtempo, another kind of music I listen to religiously. 

Searching for the music and then making them literally takes me days and days but mixtape making is something I really love to do. I hope you enjoy them as much as I love making them!

Kerri Chandler is a king and his cover mix is a perfect, extended example of the legacy he will lead. The two hour mix features 35 tracks of absolute gold.

"It feels like I started all over from scratch," Kerri Chandler told us in a recent interview. He was of course referring to his relationship with Circo Loco, the Italian party brand based out of DC-10 in Ibiza. After a period of persuasion Chandler agreed to play for the crew at their 2010 opening/closing party and has since become an integral part of the family, making multiple appearances throughout the 2011 season and generally stepping up his worldwide DJ presence. It was evident in our talking with Chandler that the partnership had rejuvenated him in many ways, although that's not to say he was somehow struggling before. Chandler is known as one of New Jersey/New York's most celebrated and important house music practitioners, with a recording career stretching back to 1991 and a classics-lined discography to prove it. As part of our on-going VS series, Chandler will link up with Chez Damier—himself a revered house music institution—for a back-to-back session this coming Saturday night at BeCool in Barcelona for our annual off-Sonar soiree.

Widely considered to be one of the chief innovators in the genre of electronic dance music known as deep house, Kerri Chandler has carved out a unique musical vision brought to life in marathon sets known to go on for 6 hours or more, he infuses elements of soul, jazz, funk, and practically any other dance rhythms to create the vivid sound tapestry unique to him. That has earned this world-class DJ, producer the affectionate nickname the Stevie Wonder of House music.

As a skilled multi-instrumentalist and Dolby Atmos certified recording engineer with a propensity for tinkering under the hood, Chandler strives to understand every aspect of sound recording and amplification. Kerri is constantly pushing the boundaries of recording technology and live-performance sound systems. When this talented DJ, and producer is behind the decks at notable venues as diverse as Printworks in London and Sub Club in Glasgow, you are guaranteed to be awash in quality music that reflects his experience as a global performer. Kerri having just released his latest album the 24-track homage to international nightlife “Spaces and Places”, jumps headlong into the world of spatial audio with Dolby Atmos This new immersive sound format allows sounds to travel through a space not merely backward and forwards but circles in all directions. With the international support of club owners and engineers, a total of 24 iconic night spots were transformed into recording studios infusing each track with the full sound characteristics of the rooms they were recorded in. Spaces diverse as London's Ministry of Sound, Paris Rex, Berlin’s Watergate, Barcelona’s Razzmatazz, or New York's Knockdown Center creating a whole new layer of complexity and accuracy. “If I wasn’t working doing the stuff I love doing, I’d probably work at Dolby,” Chandler says. “My job became my hobby, and my hobby became my job.”

Kerri's latest series of dates brings all of this time and attention full circle combining the meticulous attention to sound, atmosphere, and craft that ensures that you will be taken on a musical adventure second to none.
