From "On a Clear Day, You Can See Forever", this song is arranged here as a burning up-tempo swing with horn-like figures in the vocals.  Improv solo space with backgrounds building toward an exciting shout section.

The old standard is updated in a fun Take-6-style swinging a cappella arrangement.  

Give Me The Simple Life - SSATBaB Level 5

Ben Folds' memorable song from "Songs For Silverman" is arranged with a contemporary jazz touch here, with a variety of textures between female soloist (with optional male solo moments, too) and the ensemble.  Fully notated piano and bass parts make this one playable by lots of groups, and careful attention to voice-leading makes it accessible for the singers while also giving them a chance to work on their expressive singing in a jazzy pop context.

Landed - Level 3 SSATB

The Sac State Jazz Singers (Spring 2012) sing my arrangement of "My Foolish Heart/Moth".  This arrangement was the winning submission in the first of three "Marsh Madness" tournaments to determine which charts I'd write, and the winning submitter was Sally Greenaway.  

This arrangement is based on Kurt Elling's version of the standard (arranged by Laurence Hobgood, his pianist and collaborator, as well), with the inserted "Moth" poem by Rabia, an 8th century mystic from Basra, Iraq.

This is the full collection of recordings released on four albums by Sacramento State Vocal Jazz under the direction of Kerry Marsh.  The albums were released between 2003 and 2008.  Plans are underway for a fifth album to be released in the Spring of 2013!

The funky Maroon 5 mega-hit from 2004 is arranged here for six-part acapella vocal jazz with (preferably) a baritone soloist. Just a touch of reharmonization gives the tune some new life in this version while still preserving the original song's flavor, making it a sure audience favorite!
