Ketama 47 is the umbrella project of musician and producer Mixmastermelonhead (Barcelona, Fez, Hong Kong) and Fake Gang, the hugely popular Rabat-based hip hop collective.

The resulting emerging genre known as Darija House combines vocals and popular styles from the Magrebí street rap and underground rave scene with unique takes on electronic dance genres long popular in Europe and the English-speaking world.

The UK and US trap/drill sound that has dominated the rap world globally is shifting. We are seeing more electronic-stylised musical idioms and more groove-focused tempos traditionally associated with more danceable forms. Importantly, global audiences increasingly appreciate regionally recognizable genres in addition to the use of corresponding non-European languages.

We want to help define the local manifestation of the human shared heritage that hip hop and dance music culture represents in North Africa and beyond.
