yung Opp, also known as Oppset, is a Houston based rapper known for his catchy delivery and mixture of trap and drill sound. Growing up in the 249 left a Opp with a very unique upbringing. This molded him into becoming the artist he is today. Before getting into the rap game, Opp spent the majority of his time either hustling in the streets or on the court. Growing up he played basketball for his high school, leading them to back to back victorious seasons. During the middle of his 10th grade season, Opp was faced with a dilemma which ultimately lead to him having to walk away from his life of high school hoops. After having the game torn away from him, Opp found himself spending more and more time in the streets, eventually dropping out of school. His rugged upbringing may have led to some controversial lyrics. It does not take an expert psychologist to draw the line between Yung Opp’s edgy, gut wrenching lyrics. Lyrics about suffering police brutality and being told he was “nothing but other peoples problems.” This aggressive mindset has lead to his cold, emotionless lyrics expressing the vivid imagery trapped in his head.

The brutal truths that he speaks about has continued to expand his fan base. Very few rappers are able to come out and bring an entirely different perspective to the game. With Yung Opp’s emphasis on “Oppset”, he has begun mixing the grimy Chicago drill style with his own H-town version of Trap. This new sound has already did begin to seep into other areas of the rap game.
