This 10-minute track was an improvisation featuring myself on guitar, Michael Shannon (the actor) on bass, and David Wike on drums. It was recorded at Euphoria Studios (NY) in the summer of '02. I spent several months adding guitar overdubs. Later, in Mike's honor, I named the track after one of his films. On June 4, 2019, Michael, David and I performed "Take Shelter" at Piano's on Ludlow Street. It was the first time we'd been in the same room for seventeen years. And it was the first and only time we've ever played in front of an audience. We called ourselves Big Daddy In the Sky. That night, we also played "Rumble" (Link Wray) and "Excursions" (Tribe Called Quest)
