Smith N Hack - Space Warrior

Gen~ is an electronic music project conceived by Carlo Cozzolongo and Gianpaolo Cassano, two musicians and composers with an academic background. Their paths cross first at the Conservatory "E.R. Duni" of Matera, where both have attended the curriculum of Electronic Music, and later at the Music and Technology Department at the University of Edinburgh, during a working experience where they have been in charge to realize the electroacoustic and sound design of a play by the composer Nigel Osborne. This experience initiates an ongoing collaboration, initially born as a pure technical exchange in the field of music production as well as a mutual contamination of ideas and musical aesthetic tastes from both their cultural backgrounds. With a completely natural and spontaneous evolution this becomes a real compositional collaboration leading to a wide production of sound material, as a result of many improvisation studio sessions with the aim of experimenting with new compositional techniques and refining their sound identity. This and other material composed in a traditional form led to the creation of gen~ first album Futuro Passato.
