When you're talking about techno, few names have been innovating and evolving as much as Robert Hood. When he's not running things over at M-Plant, he can be found touring the festival circuit with his live show and releasing tonnes of fresh new material.

Today we concentrate on his more melodic alias and under the name Floorplan, Hood has released a stunning album showcasing a slightly different yet equally strong sound.

A new EP is set to drop featuring two re-edits of tracks that appeared on his Floorplan album 'Paradise'. 'Phobia' and 'Never Grow Old' have been given a special Re-Plant and we have the premiere of the latter.

Weekend Circuit, record label born out of London, England, is an artistic entity focussing primarily on releasing first-rate Techno since it’s inception in 2013. Starting from humble beginnings, the outfit have rapidly grown into one of the cities most important collectives. The inaugural release, helmed by Dax J, helped set the blueprint for a well-honed, forward-glancing sound that owes as much to London as it does to Berlin.

Previous releases have given artists a stand-alone platform upon which to extend their music to the masses, and now the label releases its first V/A series, Ground-Fault-Interrupt.

Artists such as Developer and Sleeparchive return to the imprint, this time joined by both veteran producers and newcomers alike. Yan Cook, Alderaan & P.E.A.R.L. also surface, giving this compilation a unique flavour and displaying a true understanding of the label’s direction.

Spread over 2 parts, the record’s eight tracks further showcase what the label has been become known for, a highly-focussed, well-contemplated brand with music to match. With tracks from the compilation already being played by artists such as Rodhad at this years Time Warp, Ben Sims and more, G-F-I offers future classics across the board.

Len Faki releases the second EP from his Basement Trax series on Ostgut Ton.

While the first part of this 2013-established series was characterised by its vocals, spheric sounds and melodies, the Berghain resident almost completely passes on these elements with Vol. 02. All three distinct, functional, composed tracks, oscillate at about 124 BPM, reflecting Faki's experienced eye for the peak time at Wriezener Bahnhof and dance floors from around the world. “These tracks are crafted from the same mould, but they differ by their character – it's a bit like a family affair, by looking into their eyes you can tell the connection,“ says Len.

Celebrating all that's ear-piercing and Techno, P.E.A.R.L. surges through with an emanating soundscape of near, far and leftfield embodiment of energy. Following on from the well received Ground Fault Interrupt, P.E.A.R.L. brings his Spanish stamina and Berlin influence to the table in Biblical amounts.

Abrasive and dancefloor-focused "DESOLATION" is no stranger to the harder sounds of percussion. With a subtle ghost, and ever tense, this track rides through red traffic lights, and begins at the end of your comfort zone; Techno at its best.

Evoking a visceral reaction, "IN SPACE" exerts its crude, unearthly series of paranormal Techno sound from the get go. A long drawn tool of the trade, comprising of little more than drone and percussion, this gives way to be adapted into any mix in the right hands.

"FLAME ON EARTH" doffs in salutation to the afterparty. With a constant identity of beep and bleeps - continually growing from somewhere from within itself - this track leaves a trail where no path lies.

Cascading between dark and light, this is a release of effectual Techno worthy of any record bag, regardless of your sub-genre preference - a real weapon of profession.

A year on from 'Fernweh', Laux is releasing two split remix EPs that give the album a complete re-imagining. There are edits from the likes of Steve Rachmad, Ray Kajioka and one Marcel Dettmann.

Dettmann is arguably one of the finest techno DJs on the planet and if he's not rinsing the Berghain sound-system, he's touring non-stop and running things at his stellar MDR imprint. 

For his edit he's served up a fierce, menacing and calculated track, one that uses monstrous kicks, demonic synths and driving hi-hats.

Room 506 (aka Ancient Methods) - Red Embers

Gregor has delivered four outstanding tracks for Drumcode that are creative, whilst still functional. Relevance uses a filtered, bubbling synth line and sparse percussion effectively to build a groove that will rip through any club. System X uses a detuned synth stab and an unusual bass line harmoniously to construct a track that sounds like its from out of space. Secura is a straight-laced techno groover that uses some distinctively unfamiliar sounds. The track is gelled together with a repetitive hum sound that adds to the groove. The fourth track on the EP; Call To Arms, uses a melodic rhythmic sequence and reverberated drums to eloquently smash any dancefloor.
