This track is my 200th since I began composing and posting on SoundCloud, and celebrates exactly 5 years since I released on SoundCloud my 1st album, Return to Equilibrium [https://soundcloud.com/alexander-mihailov-96713983/sets/alex-m-return-to-equilibrium] (comprised of 8 tracks), on 30 December 2016; I had opened my SoundCloud account two days earlier, on 28 December 2016, and had completed my first compositions in the autumn of 2016.

Over the past 5 years, I have released on SoundCloud 200 tracks (of which 66, or almost precisely 1/3, in collaboration), 18 albums (of which 13 own and 5 in collaboration), 1 medley album in collaboration and 1 single in collaboration. Performing this song was no walk in the park. There's a certain mood and feel to this one that I feel separates it from the rest. Endeavors like this sometimes make me wish that I had other singers to help collaborate with me but once it's done I'm usually glad that I put so much effort on it and did it all myself. Of all my songs I think this is the one that I enjoy the most listening to through my I Pod.

How would you describe your music style?

I’ve always called it “alternative-pop,” as a half-hearted, half-joke. Because truthfully, I love so many types of music that I think my love for blues, funk, rock, and pop will always shine through. When I sit down to first write a song, I try to focus on lyrics and melody, whether there's a guitar part already written or I'm writing to a piece of music. My goal has always been for everyone to feel and identify with the lyrics in some capacity while having a melody they can bump on the highway or have in their ear while they’re on break and everything in between; hopefully, it sticks with them. I want my music to help people get through life’s complex changes and winding roads, wherever it may take them. I want to help with any of those moments the best I can.

What artists inspire you?

I’m inspired by so many different aspects of different artists, from the guitar playing of Clapton, SRV, Hendrix, Rodrigio & Gabriela, to the songwriting of Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Fiona Apple, Sara Bareilles, and Bob Dylan. Plus, I love the way bands and artists like Foo Fighters, Grateful Dead, and Justin Timberlake have mastered the art of live shows and performances, to how The Beatles and James Brown were masters of melody. If you’re out there doing your own thing, writing your music, and pouring your heart and soul into the craft that you love so much, then I think you’re inspiring everyone. I think you can draw inspiration from anyone doing it on their terms.
