Vanjee - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2024

The Milestone Fellowship was a retro-themed birthday party about a secret society which had formed around the world through letter writing and written support and friendship. The First Gathering, held in 1940, was its first in-person gathering since its inception in response to the growing need for community and support in uncertain times.

I wanted to try something a little different, a set that was appropriate to the theme and times we were emulating yet fun and danceable. What started out planned as a funky/retro breaks set turned into my first drum and bass set or as it's known by some, "Swing 'n' Bass". Enjoy!

I had a rough week and I wanted some music that would make me feel better. I'm also about to leave for Burning Man in a few days and I've been collecting and organizing a bunch of tracks for various situations and moods.
One of my favorite times of day at BM is sunrise. It's such a wonderful transition from the darkness and intensity of sound and fire to the light. I've tried to capture that here with some deep, lush tracks, building up to the brightness and joy of a new day.


Vitruvian Sunrise

There are few more challenging environments to DJ in than an open air moving vehicle in a whiteout dust storm. But there are also few environments as fun to dance and jam in. This year, I played a lot more day time sets which let me bring out a lot of ghetto funk breaks I'd been saving up. 

Thanks as always to Dr. Brainlove, my favourite mutant vehicle, for a wonderful day excursion.
