Steven's EDM Recommendations

kev/null (Kevin Cheng) grew up trying to make mixtapes by overdubbing cassettes and blending tracks together. Today, he puts those ones and twos together for a variety of breakbeat, ghetto funk, future house, and chill house beats.

Whether it's in an basement club in Hong Kong at peak hour, sunset on a beach in Thailand, in a dusty whiteout on an art car shaped like a giant brain at Burning Man, or in a massive club sound system in San Francisco, his infectious energy and track selection sets the right mood and gets the the crowd moving.

He's a member of the San Francisco collective, The Space Cowboys, and had the fortune to share billing with artists such as Wes Smith, Stanton Warriors, A. Skillz, and Lee Burridge.

Habitat Season 2 - AIRGLO support

What a huge honor to play my inaugural Reno Decompression set at my favorite venue, Dead Ringer Analog Bar. The entire event was fantastic with half a dozen stages, four bars, a ton of art cars, food trucks, performers, and vendors from 3pm until 6am all around Reno's Brewery District.

9PM on Saturday is early times for Reno but the dance floor filled up quick! Thank you to all that came to support. This set is a bit of a different vibe for me, with a flow of progressive house, melodic techno, indie dance, and maybe even some tech house. Yet somehow, as always happens, it still sounds like me. I hope you enjoy!

"I am so honored to be back at Shambhala's 2019 season at The Living Room Stage this year. I am playing two live EVeryman and Little Giants hip hop sets. One on Saturday and one Sunday. These will be primarily hip hop sets of my original tracks and me rapping live. I wanted to make this mix different. I wanted to make a mix of all my friends from Shambhala over the years and some of my new favorite tunes fused with old school hip hop classics. I chose to incorporate music that reminded me of all the good times I have had at Shambhala over the years. This mix was made with the memory of Jon Horvath of @FortKnoxFive and Nicholas Alvarado, A.K.A. @Pumpkin , both dear friends and DJ's who we lost too soon. These men both changed the way I hear and feel music. I would not be the DJ or performer I am today without their guidance and support. I would not be performing at Shambhala if Jon did not do bring me to meet Hoola when he lost his voice and could not get on the mic back in 2013. Jon handed me the mic and said, "Alright brother go Introduce Mark Farina right now." The rest is history. We all miss them both dearly, through the Funk Family worldwide Jon and Nick's funky souls live on. Thanks to Sara and Hoola for having me back to help host the Living Room Stage. Angel and Ruben, better known as "Mutantbreakz", are one of the most representative artists of our country. These two young men began their musical careers in 2007 and were quickly recognized in the breakbeat scene for their performances at visitors room (Barbate). In 2008 they start their own radio show on “Salvaje FM” and are nominated for the Spanish Breaks Awards. IN 2010 they hit the stage presenting their first LIVES shows! and releasing his first works under the record labels: Need Money, Rat Records, Hot Cakes, Distortion Records, Ibwt Music, Menu Music, Booty Breaks, etc. .. being record producers and agents of the Need Money, Distorsion Records and GuachincheRecords label. . Collaborating and working on remixes for artists such as: Dubpistol, SpecimenA, Lady Waks, Deekline, Kuplay, Yo speed, Marten Horger, Rico Tubbs,, EdSolo, Baymont Bross, etc. They share their music with the rest of the world by being regulars to the radio show Lady Waks and collaborating with her on several Videos, tracks, being Winners in 2016 for "Best International Track" Along with Lady Waks and Ragga Twins At the International Breaks Award "I.B.A." His musical style has crossed borders several times, his performances and productions have such acceptance by his public that they visit the best parties and festivals breaks in our country and countries such as Russia, USA, Vietnam, Uk, Ukraine, Latvia, etc.

About DJ Deckard:
Born and bred in Washington, Keith Harris (a.k.a. Deckard) starting DJ-ing in 2000, at venues and clubs in Seattle and Canada. He moved to San Francisco in 2005 where his skills and talent evolved and became even more prolific, garnering interest and accolade and earning him a spot in the underground music scene.

Deckard made his big splash as a member of Coda in 2006 at Burning Man. Soon after he joined forces with the Space Cowboys whose parties are legendary in San Francisco and Burning Man and whose Ripecast podcast was nominated for Best Podcast of the Year by Breakspoll for 2013.

Mixing together a blend of music selection including, but certainly not limited to breakbeat, nu funk, and house, Deckard keeps crowds on their feet and moving backed by his unique sound and ability to mix genres whether it be playing a sunrise set at Breakfast of Champions or closing down the main room in front of a packed warehouse.

Deckard has performed in a variety of venues on the west coast and Canada with DJs such as Jondi & Spesh, Uberzone, Lee Coombs, Plump DJs, Dylan Rhymes, Meat Katie, Elite Force/Simon Shackleton, Worthy and more.
