Kaos London Podcast #011 Ancient Methods

Closing the chapter of our Bassiani takeover for July, here comes Tbilisi’s Kvanchi, providing the very kind of fire we needed to top off a month of Georgian heat over at RYC. Infused with deeper Detroit tech flavors and strains of effusive acid hoodoo, Kvanchi’s mixes are testaments to the old-school sound, all set at bringing dance floors to a simmer through nonstop bouncy momentums and bespoke soulful selections. True to this approach, Kvanchi’s RYC podcast keeps it buoyant from start to finish, as it nimbly navigates the frontier between hi-NRG house traction from back in the day, electroid / breaks-heavy charges and a touch of ghetto-tech-informed irreverence. Clearly toasting to the Motor City’s heritage, a most fitting wrap-up to that longed-for Bassiani x RYC takeover. We hope you enjoyed the journey as much as we did.

Desde su aparición, el proyecto ha sido a menudo etiquetado como “pitch black techno war funk“  (citado después de una reseña inicial de Boomkat) y estrechamente asociado a lo que más tarde sería etiquetado como el movimiento "tecno industrial". Esto posiblemente se deba a la estética radical de la máquina que Ancient Methods ha convertido en un sonido característico inconfundible desde hace más de una década. Aunque el marco mecánico sea -ni más ni menos- un embajador físico de un contenido más profundo, hay una profunda emocionalidad humana encerrada en la coraza rítmica.

Since its emergence the project the has been often labelled as “pitch black techno war funk“ (quoted after an early Boomkat review) and closely associated to what later on would be tagged as the “industrial techno“ movement. This is possibly due to the radical machine aesthetics Ancient Methods has developed into an unmistakable trademark sound, since more than a decade. However the mechanical framework is - no more, no less - a physical ambassador for a deeper content, there is a profound human emotionality enclosed in the rhythmic shell.

KHIDI Podcast 125: Downwell

WLDV starts its activity in 2012 DJing and creating music based on synthesizers and inspired by the electronic music of the 70s, 80s and early 90s like Italo Disco, EBM, New Beat, Techno… with clear influences of the B movies, sci-fi, horror and fetish stuff.

He released vinyl and cassettes on labels such as Giallo Disco, Bordello A Parigi, Waste Editions, Violette Szabo, Soil Records, Eclectic Reactions, Cold Beats, Fill Lex Records, Infidel bodies, The Hiddens, Patch Records, 4mg Records, Italo Moderni… And many more. 
He also played several live and dj set performances around Europe and North America.

WLDV hosted and played as resident at the Vocoder Club parties from 2014 to 2019 and drives also the label Eclectic Reactions since 2014 together with Radithor.

Bruto Transmissions #040 - WLDV

We are very pleased to welcome the return of Nghtly to the Kaos London podcast series, this time with a live performance.

Francesco Tella, known as Nghtly, is a producer, DJ and live performer originally from Caserta, Italy, whose music explores existential depths through rhythms and melodies. Starting his career at the age of 18, he was influenced by Synthwave and EBM before finding his authentic expression in techno body music. Each EP released tells a story, turning his productions into mystical experiences that invite introspection. This emerges especially in the EPs released on DETRITI RECORDS, HOME MORT, KHOINIX, X - IMG and Persephonic Sirens by Ancient Methods.

His DJ sets and live performances are immersive experiences, rituals of connection between artist and audience, in cities such as Naples, Bologna, London, Budapest, Warsaw and Rotterdam.

A co-founder of the cultural movement Ecotono, Nghtly presents himself as an explorer of the unknown and teller of universal stories, inviting listeners to explore infinite vibrations arising from his music.

Kaos London podcast #34 Nghtly (live)

We are very pleased to welcome Second Tension as our 36th guest on the Kaos London podcast series with a live mix of new music created for the Kaos London showcase at Astron Club, Athens in July 2024.

Second Tension is a project by Stavros Tilkeridis, a Greek artist and DJ. Stavros started creating music back in the early nineties, with next to no access to the outside world. He started with tape loops, not too dissimilar to those by Pierre Schaffer, and got his hands on his first sampler, Mpc 2000xl, by the late nineties. Stavros was introduced to rave culture in the early two-thousands and experimented his way through them, using his music to search for a deeper, hidden meaning. He started Second Tension in 2016 as an attempt to capture a progressive spirit in electronic music, combining primitive and industrial aesthetics. With 3 EPs and an LP  on Persephonic Sirens, and several  released on OSM Tapes, and Monolith.
