Welcome back to Botanik Dreams, this time selector Filippo Zenna from the city of Nocera, near Napoli, presents 'Percezioni Di Crisi'.

Filippo has been developing a musical vision that in the year 2015 led him to form part of Early Sounds Recordings and Periodica Records, a passionate group of musicians and selectors based in Napoli, in the southern region of Italy. Later in 2016, working with musicians Zampera & Mutto he released 'So You Are', his first vinyl release in form of a 7".

This is a personal and very special music selection, including music by Luis Delgado, Charles Manier, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jan Schulte, and Ichio Omega amongst others, and also containing some original poetry writen by Filippo:

'Ricurvo, cerco un abbraccio. Ma dove? Dentro i filtri di una realtà che non è più parallela. Ci siam tutti dentro, ma ognuno è nessuno. Inquadrati in un mondo di paure, di odio, di guerre verosimili. Ricurvo, cerco una via di fuga, ma l'hanno chiusa. Filmiamo con gli occhi quell'ovatta con cui hanno coperto la libertà. Folle credere che siamo involuto, come un pianeta di scimmie che ha il suo dio in un capobranco. Penso a Freud, alla forza della paura, a quanto io stesso non abbia più stimoli per approfondire, per cercare l'ideale e poi l'amore. Prendo coscienza della deriva. E ni ricurvo, cercando un abbraccio dentro il vuoto.'

'Curled up, looking for an embrace. But where? Inside the filters of a reality that is no longer parallel. We all are deep in it, but everyone is a nobody. Framed in a world of fear, hatred, media wars. Curled up, looking for a way out: they closed it. We Witness with our eyes the membrane in which they have concealed our freedom. It's crazy to believe we've gone so backwards, like a planet of monkeys that have their god in a pack leader. I think about Freud, about the strength of fear, as I myself have no wish to investigate any further, to look for the Ideal and then love. I become aware of the drift. And I curl up, again, looking for an embrace into the void.'

I create seamless fusions of just about everything. All visceral, atmospheric and psychedelic with hidden depths upon closer inspection. The flow is also important. It exists on a continuum with micro-variations and subtle evolutions along the way.
The music can range from low down heavy darkness to softer and more positive, higher-vibrational new age. Yet even at it’s most crushing and industrial never succumbing to nihilism and instead feeling warm and inviting.
Very often humorous (in the form of deliberate cinematic pastiches), freaky and surreal. Inspired by dystopian sci-fi. Retro-futuristic.
I often wear my influences on my sleeve like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream but at my core I’m still self-referential with my sound. It operates at my own personal frequency.
