Catman Cohen first appeared on the music scene in 2005.

Thereafter, Catman Cohen released four CDs that included several political songs.

In creation of his 60 song library, Catman Cohen only released shadow photos of himself in order to place the focus upon his compositions.

As a shadow musician, he performed duets with Transgender artists, Emos, Goths, Suicide Girls, Jewish rappers, Latin choirs, dancing violinists, and other offbeat types.

In 2024, Catman Cohen finally stepped out of the shadows and provided his first print interview to a national American magazine.

He revealed his legal name (David Cohen) and a single photo of his face.

Most of the songs here are original compositions, all recorded using Ableton Live. They are all released under a Creative Commons license and available for free download. My songs, like everyone's, are affected by my influences which range from U2 to Queen, Goyte to The Mighty Boosh. My interest in loop-based music was originally inspired by seeing Mr Percival perform live. I guess you could describe my music as a combination of Synthpop or Electropop with a touch of Folktronica. Engineer by necessity, writer by choice.

I've been playing music since the fifth grade, when I was chosen to play the Bass Recorder in a Baroque Ensemble.  It was a life-changing experience, and I started to dream of someday owning my own music studio

I began writing music at the age of 18 while teaching myself to play guitar.  I'd always wanted to play piano, so once I established my career in the technical world, I spent several years with vocal coaches, piano teachers, and guitar teachers.  I taught myself music theory, and for a short time collaborated with Rob Munshower (recently lead guitarist/writer of the group, Beyond the Firewall).  To this day, I continue to study style and genre of both songs and specific instruments as I search for the timeless melody.

I played in various Christian bands, and at one point, wrote/arranged music, trained/guided musicians and singers and sound team members in ministry that lasted over ten years.  I stopped playing live in '03 when the urgency of my professional obligations crowded out my personal life.  Years on the road working with subcontractors took all of my energy and time and eventually burned me out.

But now I'm back, and writing, and loving life, music, and my Creator.

I write songs.
I write songs for women with big voices. (Sometimes men).
Love me a great big huge sweeping power ballad, something to make you cry, clap, and crumple up that love letter you were going to send him, all at the same time (logistically, not so sure how feasible that is, but just go with it).
