Philippa Pacho is back on Bassiani airwaves for Podcast 178. The dynamic artist behind positivesource and STHLM Murder Girls knows a thing or two about setting a crowd in motion. Her shapeshifting beats and unmatched energy fast making her a household name far outside her native Sweden and more recent Berlin base. Her residency at Stockholm mainstay Under Bron is about a decade old, but there’s not even so much as a suggestion of hesitancy or weariness in her work, carrying a passion that’s infectious, and as palpable in a club as it is on screen (check out her recent sets on Hör). Her Techno really is powerful stuff, a sustained sonic onslaught, an unyielding beast, hulking and formidable but also smart. For many DJs whose sound is so heavily reliant on bass to carry forth their message, a slip into monotony wouldn’t be entirely unpredictable, but Philippa’s cunning use of supporting effects and melody keeps even a 6 hour journey like this one interesting from start to finish. This up and coming doyenne of loop Techno really is a force like no other.

With the impact of acts such as Abstract Division and Laurie Spiegel, Zuka Babunashvili got interested in electronic music in his early years as a specified field, what later on resulted him taking the job seriously influenced by techno culture and experimental sounds.

Moving to Bremen a few years ago, he faced the opportunity and inspiration of exploring and developing new ideas. As soon as he got introduced to the software ways of creating music, Zesknel released his debut EP “Rgoli”, which perfectly reflects his musical orientations. The sonic experience created by this 4 tracker immerses you into a real journey to very deep and dark spaces. An invitation to explore the various sides of offbeat techno with an explicit ambient touch is the small summary you could give to this work of Zesknel. While the outcome of these 4 tracks is quite experimental, the selection of the sounds points you towards techno. . As a dj and a live artist, he has always had an influence of experimental and techno music, but never limits himself with genres.

Zesknel, who is found using more folk and electronic samples in his music, delivers an hour of an amazing musical adventure filled with uptempo techno and Drum 'n Bass aesthetic, which results in a surprisingly energetic set.

ბრემენში საცხოვრებლად გადასვლის შემდეგ, მას საკუთარი მუსიკალური იდეების განვითარებისთვის ახალი შესაძლებლობები მიეცა. მუსიკის წერისთვის საჭირო პროგრამული უზრუნველყოფების შესწავლის შემდეგ, მან მალევე გამოუშვა სადებიუტო Rgoli EP, რომელიც იდეალურად ასახავს მის მუსიკალურ ორიენტაციებს. 

ტექნოს და ექსპერიმენტალის ნაზავი, ღრმა, ბნელ ატმოსფერულ ელემენტებთან, ის მთავარი მახასიათებლებია, რომელიც Zeskneli-ის მუსიკას მუდამ თან სდევს. მისი პროდუქციისთვის დამახასიათებელი ნიშანია ქართული ფოლკლორის ესთეტიკის  ელექტრონულ მუსიკაში გადმოტანა.  Zeskneli როგორ ლაივ არტისტი და დიჯეი, ძირითადად ორიენტირდება ტექნოზე, თუმცა მისი მუსიკა არასდროს ექცევა რომელიმე კონკრეტული ჟანრის ჩარჩოში.

For the 40th edition of the Fast Forward Audio Series we present to you - NEWA

Coming from the jazz scene (and being a classically trained musician) Ana Kublashvili chose the artist name Newa when she progressed into the electronic music field. Newa started out as a DJ in 2012 in her hometown of Tbilisi, Georgia, quickly making a name for herself around in the city’s famous nightlife spots. She is a regular at the world-renowned Bassiani venue, a space that has given her a foundation to establish her skills on an international scale. Newa is also a recurring favourite at Ben Klock’s touring event-series Photon.

When it comes to Newa’s own productions it is a direct transition from her sound as a DJ; she represents a nuanced artist, building her musical presence on technical skill and honest feelings. Her authenticity extends into the studio. What you discover when listening to her work is a producer who expertly manages to measure all elements; deep bass lines and sunken melodies coexist in harmony. Whether the end result is techno or an experimental ambient piece, she manages to create music resonating with depth and reflection. Subspiele Records debuted Newa’s first own productions in 2012, since then she has gone on to release records on fine labels such as Klockworks, Semantica and the Bassiani in-house label. Since 2016 she also co-runs the diverse Icontrax imprint; here the focus lies on presenting undiscovered local talent from the flourishing Georgian techno scene.
