  현재의 디지털화된 사회에서 알고리즘은 우리의 생활에 이미 녹아들었으며, 그 영향력은 아주 빠르게 커지고 있다. 우리의 상호작용은 알고리즘의 메타-인지성에 의해 철저히 분석되고 즉시 사용되어 인간의 행동을 예측하고 유도하는 재료가 된다. 우리는 알고리즘이 제시하는 추천과 결정을 의심 없이 받아들이며, 사실상 24시간 내내 그 영향 아래에 놓여 있다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다.
  이렇게 믿음과 의존도가 극단적으로 확대되어 가는 현상에 기반하여, 알고리즘은 현대 사회에서 종교적으로 기능한다고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 알고리즘은 본래 아주 상업적인 목적을 가진 장치이다. 이 작품은 이러한 간극에 기반하고 있다.
