’Numb’ partners Genix with BBC Radio 1 supported singer-songwriter Natalie McCool, also known as LYCA. The Liverpool based multi-instrumentalist received acclaim for her 2016 album ’The Great Unknown’, championed by the likes of Q, The Sunday Times, Huw Stephens and Alice Levine.

The first single taken from ‘199X’, ‘Numb’ with LYCA is out now. ‘199X’ will be released on the 10th of September and is available for both vinyl and digital pre-order now on the Anjuna Music Store.

A love letter to rave culture, ‘199X’ is the debut artist album from Anjunabeats stalwart Damion ‘Damo’ Houchen, also known as Genix.

The LP is a departure from the sound Genix is best known for. Through the late 2000’s and 2010’s, Genix was well known for his textured, melodic take on trance. He caught the ear of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk, securing releases on both Armada and Vandit. Genix arrived on Anjunabeats in 2010 and immediately became a mainstay in Above & Beyond’s sets with tracks like ‘Aura’, ‘Destinations’ and ‘Black Water’ (the latter written with regular touring partner Sunny Lax).

From those origins, Genix has blossomed into a mainstay in the trance scene. As his stature grew, so did his approach to his music:

“There have been so many influences [on my sound]; DJs, producers, events and the thousands of records I’ve bought over the years. I don’t try to be any one genre, some people think I produce less trance sometimes, but if you have followed my career from the start it’s always had tech influences. I think any producer should stick to the sounds they love, if it makes me jump out of my seat when I’m making it, then that’s all that really matters. 

My music is a representation of my personal taste, it’s my expression and my passion being put into sound. It really is an art and I just try to be myself, not a genre, not a certain BPM, just Genix.” - Genix

His Anjunabeats Worldwide 09 mix championed these ideas. It was an iTunes #1 dance album that took us from slow burning progressive to fiery techno, landing somewhere between a Global Underground mix and a classic Gatecrasher compilation.

2020’s ‘The Light’ was a bullish electro-edged anthem alongside label mate Grum and hit number one on Beatport’s Melodic Techno chart. DJ support from Etienne De Crecy and Hi-Lo (Oliver Heldens) followed. 

A polished DJ, Genix has performed around the world; festival stages at Creamfields (UK), Tomorrowland, EDC, ABGT250 and 350, to more intimate club affairs; Ministry Of Sound, The Hollywood Palladium, Warehouse Project. 

These shows don’t live up to the heights of playing 5,597 metres above sea level though, where in April 2019 Genix set the Guinness world record for the highest land DJ set, hosting a party at Everest Base Camp.

Above & Beyond and long-time collaborator Justine Suissa share their first joint effort in over four years, ‘Almost Home’. 

‘Almost Home’ is Above & Beyond’s first club track of 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds in London this September. ABGT450 is their first headline show in over a year, and will see the trio perform to an audience of more than 10,000 fans. Later in September, Above & Beyond embark on the Anjunafamily Reunion Tour, which visits major cities across the U.S.A. including sold-out stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater and the world-famous Echostage in D.C. 

Jono, Tony, Paavo and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’,a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. 

In 2016, Justine joined Above & Beyond during their sell-out ‘Acoustic II’ tour, which stopped at iconic venues including Royal Albert Hall in London and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. 

“This is a track that we originally wrote with Justine some years ago. Like many musicians during lockdown, we buried ourselves in the studio and had plenty of time to pick through old ideas. ‘Almost Home’, with its ’80s production influences, caught our ear. We sent it across to Justine again, and she rewrote the second verse to reflect her feelings on it today - we won’t tell you what it’s about though, we’ll leave that for you to decide. This track started in quite a different form, so we’ve also done a Club Mix to bring it a bit more up-to-date. It’s quite emotional to think that we’ll be able to play this one live for you all very soon. Take care for now!” - Above & Beyond

Time to unveils our brand new Single format with a unique musical project on the current scene: Automates.

Unique because it makes a sensual bridge between techno and pop with French vocals and dreamy melodies. This project was born from the alliance of the two producers RAUMM  and BXTR, flagship of a generation packed with talent and ready to shake up the codes while the sulfurous voice of Saddie transports us into a poetic metaverse.
