For the 12th chapter of Terra Sonus, Blind Observatory leads a way to the Lake Taifu-Ikka - rather an idea, a mind construct than a place itself.

''One of the biggest joys for me when it comes to DJing is the actual preparation. Envisioning the situation in advance and laying out a colour palette of sounds that I would like to paint a picture with. However, on my last journey to Japan this became a very complicated task as a typhoon was laying over the festival site soaking everything in uncertainty. 

The night before my set I was sitting in my room, flipping through notebooks filled with playlists, desperately trying to find the right moves and account for every outcome. Like a Chess player calculating all possible continuations but none of them win. It was only when I realised and accepted that it is out my hands and I’ll have to trust my intuition, that I could find some peace of mind. 

I remember arriving at the stage thinking that even in rain on such a grey day everything feels so serene and calm. To my surprise, the clouds broke right before my play-time, leaving the sky bright blue. Funnily I had prepared for this exact possibility, nonetheless I played a completely different set. This time, it seemed, the situation had painted a picture of me.

Someone told me 台風一過 (Taifu-Ikka) is the Japanese expression describing this clear blue sky after a typhoon has passed. I thought a lot about it throughout the past year when I spent some time near a lake and would go for a swim in the early morning hours as often as I could. It had a very similar effect on me. So, “Lake Taifu-Ikka” is less of an actual place than it is an idea, a mind construct. A ritual of sorts, that helps me to move some clouds and clear up my mind. This set is an attempt to recreate this sensation. ''

Terra Sonus 15 travels back in time & space to tell the story of 1986 happenings in Chernobyl as mixed by Alex Levin. @alexlevin

Alex has been involved with electronic music and DJing for two decades. Over the years he has built a reputation in the Tel Aviv nightlife scene and has had appearances on acclaimed stages in Berlin since relocating to the city several years ago.

Alex was born in Odessa, Ukraine almost exactly three years prior to the disaster, 600 kilometers south of the location of the accident. At the time of the event the magnitude of the accident in the former USSR had been silenced and hidden away from the public.

''This mix is a 2 hour take on the nuclear disaster event that happened in Chernobyl on the night of April 26, 1986. It captures the peaceful daily routine in the since abandoned city Pripyat, Ukraine, the residential area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the creeping danger, the immense reaction, and the apocalyptic aftermath that followed. It tells a story about science, technology, innocence, ego, lies, fear, obedience, sacrifice, bravery, heroism, tragedy, love, pain and hope. 

Dedicated to the humans and animals whose lives were taken away by the catastrophe.''

Dasha Rush is a Russian born artist who sees the genre as a starting place not a destination. She is a respected and well-travelled DJ and live performer, but her work is equally focussed away from the dance floor, and sometimes away from music itself. Her recent album for Raster-Noton, Sleepstep, could be a metaphor for her work: "These 16 pieces are transmissions from that state between sleep and wakefulness," said Tony Naylor, a reflection of the in-between zones her music often inhabits. Dubby but intense, brutal but tender, foggy yet clear—Sleepstep was a wonderful mass of contradictions. Not being one thing or the other is vitally important to Rush, which goes hand-in-hand with her strong independent streak. The majority of the music she's released since starting out in 2005 has come through her own Fullpanda label and, as she told us in 2013, she's resistant to playing the publicity game in the way many in the scene do. That's meant she's remained off the radar for some techno fans, but it's also given her the freedom to explore projects and sounds as she pleases. With all this mind, it was little surprise that our invitation to record a podcast was met with, "Yes, but it won't be a club mix." What we got instead was an absorbing 65 minutes of dense ambient soundscapes that shows Rush at her most reflective. The mix comes ahead of the North American premiere of Antarctic Takt, Rush's A/V show with Stanislav Glazov, at this week's Mutek festival in Montreal.

今年の３月に私のパーティー"Revolt!"をアテネの"Six d.o.g.s"というクラブでZipと2 MKIIと一緒にプレイした時のウォームアップセットだよ。


3月にアテネの"Six d.o.g.s"というクラブでZip、2 MKIIと一緒にやってるパーティー「Revolt!」に向けたワームアップセットをレコーディングしました。


-コンセプトがあれば教えてください。

DJする時はいつもレコードを使ってストーリーを表現しようとしているよ。
これはいつもインスピレーションを与えてくれるZipの影響なの。


-最近の活動を教えてください。

親友のJonn Melchiatとコラボしてトラックを作っていて年内にリリースを予定しているよ。
あとギリシャの島で日焼けにも取り組んでいたわ。

This voyage was put together in the studio, after an exchange of ideas. The vision is to encapsulate a mixture of transcendence. An experience beyond the normal, intending to communicate with the world within the context of spirituality and inner transformation. 

The story of Kolleyio appears in the subtropical climate of South-East Mediterranean. Two same-minded nomads found each other searching for the long lasting musical oasis. Guided by the power of sun, they have embarked on a journey to teach their musical findings upon the local indigenous people. Fast-forward to today, they are ready to present their findings.
