Hi you! Thanks for checking the page of Katri Johannes.

I’m a helsinkian DJ, who plays both solo and as a part of a team called Borderline Babez. I have just been honoured to become a resident at Queerhel, a dynamic underground queer club consept that is spreading it’s magical energy all around Europe!

So to share some about me and my values: My pronomines are she/her. I’m proudly queer and I strongly support the safer space policies. My heart beats more to the underground party scene, but I’m happy to play anywhere people come together for the love of music and good vibes!

And then some about my sound: I have an big love for the groove! Atm I’m in my tech girl-era, but the bassline is what has always got my attention. It needs to be flirtatious and hooking, like a smoking hot eye contact. And also, even if I go for the perky tech, tight disco or sentimental deep house, what matters alot to me in tracks are their progression, their story. 

The tracks I play for others are chosen solely with a thought ”I would dance to this”. As a listener I love to be surprised, so I also build my sets with tracks that follow no spesific genre. If it works with the story of the set I might bring together something minimalistic and massive, industrial and organic. 

As an artist I trust my intuition and ever since I’ve learned to play I have never obeyed the genre lines. Sometimes it makes it hard to tell ”what kind of a dj” I am. So I’ll leave that to the listener.
