A kitsune is a supernatural fox spirit from Japanese folklore known for its intelligence and magical abilities, such as shapeshifting into humans. There are two types: benevolent zenko (good foxes), who serve the deity Inari and bring prosperity, and mischievous yako (wild foxes), who play tricks and cause trouble. Kitsune gain more tails and powers with age and spiritual training, with the most powerful being the legendary nine-tailed fox.
