Welcome to StrktlyBeats, a series of workout playlists to lift you, inspire better and encourage a little more.

I started teaching a spin class back in 2001, and keeping that class fresh meant keeping the mixes fresh too. I'm quietly proud to admit that my class has been fully booked week in, week out. It's been quite the ride and we're still going strong 🚴🏼‍♀️🔊🎚️

The class is 45 minutes of pure sweaty workout joy. These playlists are what I'll pick from, some tracks make the cut, others wait a week or two. 

Every set starts with a warm-up track to settle into, stretch and get into the zone, builds towards an uplifting vibe and bangs on till the cooldown'stretch track, right about 40ish minutes in. That's all you'll get here.. more than enough to get the fitness endorphins rushin'.

'Big Rave Energy' was born out of a difficult period in my life starting with the pandemic: my studio was shut down, labels crumbled, I lost much of my team, and moved to a new city. It was a difficult evolution for me personally but through all of this my focus came back to what I really love about music and rave culture - a sense of wonder, power, and connection. In the album art, the symbol of the man ascending is based on that feeling: something that takes us out of our daily lives, something transcendent and supernatural.

North London-based producer and Reprezent Radio DJ RALPH, delves into the depths with an intricate, breaks-heavy future anthem.

In the heart of the ancient forest, a community of druids thrived under the guidance of their wise leader, Ralph. With their deep connection to nature, they harnessed the power of the land to weave spells that protected their realm. One fateful night, a vivid and lucid dream swept through the forest, foretelling an impending darkness that would engulf their home.

Ralph convened the druids to decipher the dream’s cryptic message. North London-based producer and Reprezent Radio DJ RALPH, delves into the depths through his dark and emotive palette. With a background in filmmaking – he was part of Boiler Room’s eponymous events imprint – he’s worked alongside notable artists. Lockdown led RALPH to craft introspective music, reflecting on the contrast between the once-thriving electronic scene and the pandemic-induced creative isolation. The resulting TIME EP merges narrative-driven electronica, influenced by his directorial pursuits.

We’re premiering the lead cut Lucid, an intricate breaks heavy future anthem.

RALPH’s ‘Time’ EP is 28th September.

God, I love it when an EP comes through that just absolutely fits the label to a T. If you have any knowledge of the label at all then I think you could pick any of these four out in a club and guess that they were on Holding Hands.

Pure bass weight swagger is the best way that I can sum it up. Juicy builds that make you want to chew the inside of your mouth off and somehow pull some serious screw face at the same time (quite an image eh?).

Three years have passed since 747 last set-free works from his studio. He makes the wait well worthwhile as he emerges with two exquisitely dreamy and emotionally charged compositions in this cinched two-track record.

Opening with the A, 'Veiltail' immerses into the depths of an abyssal realm, where distorted, crunchy synths echo like sonar pulses in the darkness of an underwater cathedral. Amidst the depths, solacing hymn-like pads gently weave through the ethereal atmosphere, crafting a transcendent tale of introspection and longing.

On the B-side, 'Stairway' ascends upward to celestial realms. Guided by broken beats and a minor chord progression, the whining lead extends an ethereal arm, a beacon on the misty mountain. A break in the sky unveils beaming lights, a beckoning call to the heavens where euphoric arpeggios await; self-actualization is realized.

Kidnap is an artist whose music overflows with emotion - rich and powerfully evocative.

Recording in London, Kidnap (real name Matthew Relton) likens his process to that of a sculptor, starting with a block of sound and chopping away until a shape emerges. As such, each song exists ornately carved with a handcrafted subtly.

Still just 33, Relton is already something of an industry veteran. Releasing his first single in 2012 kicked off an eight-year stretch of global touring that came to a grinding halt when the pandemic put the world on pause.

2024 marks a new chapter for Kidnap, with his next body of work on the horizon. Set against the backdrop of a changing world and the arrival of a baby daughter, Relton offers a bittersweet reflection on the passing of time. ‘It’s about looking back on the last 12 years — the touring and the friends and the sleeplessness,” says Relton, “and realising that in order to embrace the life I have now, I need to let it all go.’ The music shimmers with nostalgia. Signature sad melodies dance deftly around commanding synth lines, altogether sounding like an artist with a new found sense of purpose.
