“Urban Wilderness (Reimagined)” is an up-tempo alchemy of 80’s synth-pop and modern electronica in which dancy grooves and vocal stutters are drenched in melancholic synths. Multi-instrumentalist/producer Gerry's funky rhythm guitars sparkle around slap-bass licks, while Emma’s captivating lead vocal soars above the nostalgic soundscape. The song is written as an homage to Cape Town, the duo’s beloved hometown, and South Africa’s famous Mother City. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the city, with contrasts between nature and urban sprawl, alluding to both the thrill of traveling the world and a nostalgic longing for home – a bittersweet love letter.

You and Me was written, tracked and produced in Butter Bath's bedroom studio in Sydney’s east. It's about meeting someone at an intimate house party and finding myself plunged into a hypnotically captivating conversation with subject matter as rudimentary as breakfast preferences and as intricate as conspiracy theories. He was entertained for hours by her eloquent, mushroom-tea fuelled tangents.

The main melody is simple yet has a hook that is very catchy. It stays in your head and pushes the song forward. The fuzzy, dreamy vocals bring more feeling and emotion to this track.

Always Be The Same ft. Jon Bryant

Cuushe preps to cast her new project out into the world with an exclusive 7” single. Named FEM — which stands for “Finite Element Method” (a way of problem-solving by subdividing large into small) — the project marks a change from Cuushe’s usual electronic dreamscapes, instead stepping into the realm of guitars, bass and drums.

Evan Dorrian, a member of the Australian avant-jazz quintet Tangents (Temporary Residence) drums skip and skitter jazz-style at the stomping heart of ‘Light’, twinkling guitars, aching FX and arpeggiating keyboards providing the soundtrack to a running jump up into the clouds themselves. Cuushe’s vocals characteristically whisper the sentiment of the lyrics, which brim with youthful optimism in the midst of the track’s J-pop sensibilities.

The remnants of a demo that’s half a decade old, ‘Light’ arrives two years after data for Cuushe’s music was stolen in a callous burglary. Miraculously, and somehow fittingly, ‘Light’ survived to become the first song of her brand new project — accompanied by a remix from IGLOOGHOST (Brainfeeder), who breaks down the song and rebuilds it in a colourful apocalypse of minimalist sound.
