Rafush is a Berlin-based dj, graphic artist, co-founder of the Afrofuturist, multidisciplinary BIPOC collective Yoko Yoko and of OUCH, event series and a monthly live radio show on Berlin radio station Cashmere Radio. Tiired of the binary sounds that dominate most of the Berlin lineups she brings some new club productions, classics, experimental electronics with a worldwide perspective and strong afro diaspora influences to her sets.

Getting behind the decks is an act of empowerment. Both in the message it carries and in the people who convey it. This is what @steiner0 stands for with her energetic, cathartic music, in which she offers an escape from the violence of everyday life. A fervent activist, she cannot imagine any music that is not political. Simply because declaring oneself "apolitical" already constitutes a political position, often associated with privileges. Steiner knows and feels every day that she evolves in an environment still largely dominated by people assigned male at birth, white, able-bodied, thin and heterosexual. Although the environment is changing, there is still a lot of progress to be made. And to fight this battle, you need strength. That's the motto she had when recording this mix that will make you want to smash everything, or at least capitalism and patriarchy.

"Techno begann als Revolte gegen die Unterhaltungskultur. Die neue Musik wollte nicht mehr als akustische Hintergrundkulisse zur Vermeidung von Einsamkeitsgefühlen vor sich hindudeln oder in Diskotheken als Animiermelodik die Lügen der love songs verbreiten. Sie erschuf dagegen mit konsequent geilem Bumsbeat eine eigene Clubkultur und ein neues Gemeinschaftsgefühl. Wo die Ohren zuvor von bekömmlichen Tönen verweichlicht worden waren, forderte Techno zwingend und kompromisslos Gehorsam. In Berlin wurde aus einer anfangs noch in Tresoren und Bunkern abgeschotteten Subkultur binnen weniger Wendejahre zuerst eine Massenkundgebung mit verzehntausendfachter Mitläuferzahl. Bis heute ist die Partykultur ein Standortfaktor der Kreativindustrie. Die Instrumentalisierung von Techno zur Generalhymne der „arm, aber sexy“- Ideologie hat geholfen, die prototypische Existenzweise des Prekariats gegen deren eigene politische Interessen durchzusetzen. Wer die Arbeitslosigkeit mit dem Ende der Arbeit verwechselt, braucht keine Freizeit und keinen Feierabend zur Kompensation der Arbeitsstunden, sondern ein Nachtleben, das zur neuen Vollzeitaufgabe wird. 
Der Vortrag erinnert an das, was Techno einmal ausdrückte: das Lebensgefühl der untergegangenen Industriestadt Detroit. Hier entstanden die dystopischen Zukunftsklänge zum einen als musikalische Emanzipation von den Standards der „race music“, zum anderen als verzweifelte Reaktion auf die Erfahrung von Verwahrlosung, Armut und Gewalt. Wie konnte aus der Not der amerikanischen „Techno City“ eine Tugend der selbsternannten „Hauptstadt der Clubkultur“ Berlin werden? Und warum eignete sich ausgerechnet die musikalische Negation der Popkultur als Exportschlager und Massenkulturware fürs gesamtdeutsche Gemeinschaftsgefühl? Ist es die Gewalt der Musik, die noch heute Individuen in mythischen Tanztempeln zusammenführt, wo sie sich durch eine gemeinsame Sache glücklich verbunden fühlen und nicht als Konkurrenten durch ein abstraktes Gesetz getrennt? 
Oder ist Techno die Musik der Gewalt, die Hörige in einen konformistischen Kollektivritus zwingt und ihnen das Gesetz der Gesellschaft mit bis zu 150 Schlägen pro Minute einprügelt?"
