DARKNESS

From childhood on, life never went as planned,
Not as it should, not the way I had dreamt.
A child full of thoughts, so often unseen,
Searching for warmth, for a place to belong in between.

Sometimes I look back on the days long ago,
With worries that lingered, not knowing where to go.
Moments of silence, of distance, of pain,
So often I felt lost, so small, in the rain.

I learned, I grew, time and again.

Yet a flame still burned, guiding me to the light.
