I'm from Baltimore County. I represent for the real people in the struggle. I hate most new school auto-tune bubblegum rap. My style is intelligent punchline rap with a gangster edge to it.


DJ BASTART went solo in the autumn of 2007. 
Since 1994, Alexey Orlov – otherwise known as BASTART - participated in various alternative electronic and hip hop projects in the city of Kaliningrad. He was born in the city of Koenigsberg, which was previously in East Prussia and is now known as Kaliningrad in the Russian Federation. Alexey has been brought up adsorbing the energy produced by the mixtures of cultures from east Europe, Russia and Prussia. Since his early years, he has observed and been influenced by both individuals and their cultural musical heritages and so developed his own unique style. Experimenting in various styles with modern electronic music, he realised the existing frameworks did not allow for his expression  so he created his own style, working and traveling outside Russia, acquiring new knowledge and developing his own unique style. He has created essentially new sounds, ignoring previously set rules and stereotypes.

At present then, DJ BASTART  is a mix of all the genres and styles from Alexey’s own heritage and experiences. It is an experiment using a "cocktail" effect, which the majority of people would not even contemplate. His desire is to achieve a live sound on each track with the least use of synthetic or digital tools. Project DJ BASTART is a project of only one person - the composer and beat maker, DJ. Not subscribing to the "club" world, Alexey, as DJ BASTART, prefers to play his music using turntables, improvising continuously with compiled tracks and those of individual instruments, creating a very unique blend of sound unrivalled to other studio productions.


Проект DJ BASTART был создан осенью 2007 года. Начиная с 1994 года, Алексей Орлов - а.к.а. BASTART - участвовал в различных альтернативных электронных и hip hop проектах города Калининграда. Проект DJ BASTART - это смесь всех направлений и стилей, которые автору кажутся достойными и заслуживающими наиболее пристального внимания на данном этапе его творчества,такие как Trip Hop, Drum&Bass, Acid Jazz, Indietronica и т.д. Смесь, несущая в себе этнический и традиционный оттенок мест, где были взяты настроения, определяющие концепцию треков. Это эксперимент по приготовлению "коктейля", ингредиенты которого в принципе большинство людей предпочитают не смешивать. 
Это желание добиться "живого" концертного звучания каждого трека 
с наименьшим внедрением синтетики цифровых инструментов.
Проект DJ BASTART это проект одного человека - композитора, битмейкера , ди джея. Не являясь представителем "клубного" мира современного мегаполиса и не питая особенной любви к этой культуре, Алексей, тем не менее, подписывается как DJ BASTART, так как предпочитает играть свои произведения, используя проигрыватели, импровизируя с рисунками треков и минусов, предавая им отличное от студийного звучание.
