Mountain Mama is a song stitched together from the rough seams of West Virginia life—part memory, part myth, and part confession.

I set it in Junior, WV, where I grew up. It follows a boy left behind at a gas station, raised by silence and survival. His daddy worked the mine by day and ran a still by night. His mama disappeared when he was three. And he’s been chasing the idea of love—and running from the ghosts of it—ever since.

It’s about mistakes that echo, friends who vanish into prison walls, and the kind of woman who might finally be able to love a man like that, broken pieces and all.

I call her Mountain Mama.
And he just wants to be her West Virginia man.

This one’s for the lost boys of Appalachia—and the women strong enough to stay.
