TIP Record's DJ/Producer Lucas O'Brien is back with the sequel to his highly acclaimed, chart-topping compilation 'Avant Garden' (2015) which features a selection of tried and tested sonically diverse tracks by some of his favourite artists that he's been playing in his DJ sets worldwide. For this project, Lucas sourced music from what he considers the most cutting edge, pioneering producers on the scene - Hallucinogen, Raja Ram, Ingrained Instincts, Outsiders, Laughing Buddha, Martian Arts, Earthspace, Audio Unit and Everblast - as well as being substantially involved in the production side himself under his various guises: 'SuperModule' (his solo project), 'Mandelbrot' (his project with Celli 'Earthling') and 'Sybarite' his project with Ric Featherstone. The compilation begins with one of Lucas' trademark introductions, once again collaborating with label founder Raja Ram. Designed to tickle the eardrums and get your body moving, Avant Garden II represents the flow of a psychedelic trance dance party by kicking off with a slower and groovier vibe, then building up the pace and intensity steadily as the album progresses... eventually reaching a more night-time style peak, whilst still keeping Lucas' characteristic funky element in the tunes. Towards the end of the album, the music transitions into a more dawn friendly style to land you safely onto a blissful cloud of psychedelia. As was the case with the first Avant Garden, Lucas used the exquisite artwork of TIP favourite visionary artist Brahma Templeman, this time commissioning a painting exclusively for the cover which illustrates a beautiful psychedelic garden. Gaff Records' debut compilation celebrates the essence and heart of why this label exists. Founder JuliosMap began his journey into the psytrance scene in 2016 by organizing the Psychedelic Gaff parties. As a tribute to those unforgettable nights, the compilation is titled '𝘗𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘎𝘢𝘧𝘧'.

In Irish slang, "gaff" refers to a house or a place where people gather, embodying the spirit of community and connection these events have fostered.

This release features a collection of tracks from artists who have performed at the Psychedelic Gaff parties, bringing together a blend of groove and psychedelia. A huge thank you to all the artists for their incredible contributions, perfectly capturing the energy envisioned for the dance floor.

Killawatt & Particular are the solo Psychedelic Trance projects of Byron Sampson from Cape Town, South Africa. 

I always find myself writing two different styles of psy trance so decided to split it with two different names. Originally I've always being Killawatt but now I have a newer one called Particular. I really enjoy the groovy night time psychedelic full on and the dark forest early morning vibes. So now I can distinguish between the two: D

Killawatt:

This is my darker sometimes higher tempo ranging from 148 – 160 bpm. Glitchy, atmospheric and occasionally hi tech or Forest sounding project aimed for the earlier hours of the morning.  This is a project I am very excited to experiment with where I have no boundaries and anything goes. No formula, just messing around to see what new things I can come about with synthesis. Twisted FX sounds, Crunchy leads, big atmospheres and lower bass lines with a slightly groovy feel. 
 
Particular: 

This is my “lighter” project which tempo ranges from 145 – 148 bpm.  To me I would call it a day time project however most would say it’s more for the night time psychedelic  full on vibe. Driving leads, grainy FX, glitch percussion FX lines and groovier bass lines with higher energy compared to Killawatt. I’m super stoked to have this one going and will have lots of tunes posted eventually :D

Ebb & Flow is the collaborative project of Matt Scrimgour (Parabolic Flow) & Tristen Henning (Voidwalker) hailing from Cape Town, South Africa. Having started our journey in February of 2017, we have since played at numerous indoor events & outdoor festivals alongside some of Cape Town’s finest psychedelic acts. 

We focus on bridging the gap between styles, always striving for a hard-edged approach to our mixing style. From Ambient/Down tempo (Our Wub & Dub alias) to Dark Progressive, Full-on, Forest & Dark-Psy, we leave no stone unturned in terms of the psychedelic music in our arsenal. We firmly believe that light and dark cannot exist without each other and we have made it our mission to find the balance between these concepts, both in our music and through our sets.

Since our signing to Woo-Dog Recordings in 2018 we have released our first compilation “Bark & Bite” as well as our first track “Grove Groove” and we are currently working away at our next compilation as well as future track releases.
