Hot Creations deliver ‘Words Gone’, the first single from the forthcoming artist album ‘Love Somebody’ by Parisian luminary Popof.

Featuring the handsome voice of Arno Joey, ‘Words Gone’ is a stunning slice of electronic music with crossover appeal, giving us a taster of what is in store for the album. Cadenza boss Luciano’s remix dives into tribal percussion, while main man Jamie Jones flips into a new gear, introducing a new melody, deep pads and emotive keys. Canadian techno legend Marc Houle is last to remix, using a bright synth melody to add a new groove.

Voted Best Newcomer artist at the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2009, Popof has gained notoriety for his work with Cocoon, and remixing the likes of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, and Moby. One of the most downloaded artists in techno music, he was appointed the official mentor of the Paris Techno Parade 2013's fifteen year anniversary, a great honour he shared in front of 300.000 participants.

One of the biggest names in dance music, Luciano has released on labels such as Perlon, Transmat and Lo-Fi Stereo. Aside running Hot Creations, Hot Trax and Paradise, Jamie Jones is this year launching his new imprint Emerald City alongside Lee Foss. Another huge name in the business, live artist Marc Houle can be found on imprints such as Richie Hawtin’s Minus and his own Items & Things.

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Mauro Picotto here at DT. Thus any arrival of any fresh material from the inimitable Italian is greeted with a fair amount of excitement whenever it lands in our bulging inbox. Long considered one of the scene’s finest selectors and producers, Mauro really is a man who’s done it all over the past couple of decades.  Catapulting the scene out of the underground onto some of the world’s most visible platforms he’s showcased his DJ skills everywhere from Ibiza’s biggest clubs to the Turin Winter Olympics; he was even the first DJ to mix live on Top Of The Pops!

Despite all this – and our rampant fanboyism - he’d still inexplicably never delivered an edition of the DT podcast which is something we finally get to put right this week. Serving up an hour long set of selections in celebration of the release of his ninth studio album, ‘From Heart To Techno’ Mauro  has us locked in from start to finish. 

We can't imagine a better way to start the week although we’ll admit his selections have already got us eagerly eyeing up the coming weekend!

This week's Debut, and penultimate instalment of our 50WEAPONS Debut series, comes from L.A. native, Truncate (also known as Audio Injection). First dropped as part of Function's Berghain '07 mix, "86" compressed kickdrum and creeping, cyclical synths building up to a climax in typical Truncate style. On catalogue number #048, Truncate is joined by fellow driving force of contemporary techno, Benjamin Damage, whose A-side complements "86" in its acid-inflected, groove-tinted techno track, "Battle".

After the success of Shinedoe's latest release "Road 777 EP" on Intacto Records, she has invited an impressive line up of producers to reshape her "Road 777" track.
 
Part 1 features 2 remix versions by BEN SIMS; the techno veteran with over 20 years of experience under his belt and known for his energetic mixing skills with his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hardgrooves. Indubitably his productions are marked with exactly this signature style and vision which can be heard on both remixes. On the flipside DANIEL STEFANIK known for his impresssive releases on Cocoon, worked his own magic blending funk combined with trippy dub vibes into the mix.

After much success of Darko Esser's Tripeo alias and label, he has decided to launch a new series to focus on the beauty of the artistic collaboration. For his first release he invites Jeroen Snik working under his more techno-centric alias Cadans, who is most well known for his Drum & Bass work as Icicle.
The moment 'Schmutz #1' unfolds, you can already tell there are two masterminds at work. The complexity of the stormy unfiltered pads that ebb and flow throughout the track integrate genially with the jogging baseline. Rather while 'Schmutz #2' takes a turn into a deeper atmosphere with dub-influenced chords, climbing slowly into scurrying percussions. 'Schmutz #3' may parallel to a techno carroll of the bells which mixes with a smooth, calming and ambient reverie.
