Classic Jack Bio: 
 Classic Jack ​embodies the raw, gritty emotion that’s gone missing from hard rock as of late. The American Rock/Metal quintet has rapidly emerged as one of the most popular bands in Salt Lake City, Utah for their brutal and unapologetic signature sound. 
 
Each of the band’s members have paid their dues in the music scene, working their way up from rock bottom and into the international orbit. Their raucous style and challenging lyrics have resonated with a generation of disenfranchised music fans - so much so, in fact, that they sold out their debut performance at SLC’s ​The Beehive Social Club ​in January of 2017. 
 Classic Jack started out in 2015 as the brainchild of ​Kohl Ashby​ and ​Gavin Hammond​, the band's vocalist and lead guitarist, respectively. Ashby had grown well connected in the metal community while running his clothing label, ​Off.Set. Apparel​. After they made a name for themselves as an “internet band,” bass guitarist ​Marcus Ulibarri​, rhythm guitarist ​Sam Kemp​, and drummer ​Jeff Burhans ​eventually joined their ranks. 
 The first official Classic Jack song was the symphonically inclined “Curtain Call,” and on Halloween of 2015, they released their debut self-titled EP. The five tracks on the effort each took them only a couple of days to record in the studio, and won them over early fans of such groups as ​Bring Me The Horizon​ and ​Of Mice And Men​. 
 Songs like “Karma” and “Cherry Picker” featured the menacing breakdowns and technical fretwork of early post-hardcore and metal, with just enough catchy vocal hooks to appeal to a wide audience. The band immediately knew that they were onto something, so they spent the following year in the studio honing their sound. 
 In January of 2017, Classic Jack made their live debut opening for SLC-based ​Divisions​ at The Beehive Social Club. It was a sold-out show, and more of the attendees were there to see Classic Jack than any other performer. Soon after, they were afforded the opportunity to open for the ten-year anniversary of Raleigh, North Carolina alternative rock band ​Alesana​ as well. 
 In March of 2017, they added a gig at ​The Loading Dock​ in SLC as support for​ The Bad Omens​ to their résumé. The following May, they then shared the stage with ​Capture The Crown​ at ​Club Sound​. 
 2017 also marks the release of Classic Jack’s first studio-length album, ​Paradigm Shift
​ . The 11 songs comprising the effort exhibit a markedly heavier and more dissonant iteration of the band’s signature sound, and the album’s challenging topic matter makes for a profound social statement. Although the lyrics of the title track portray the end of a relationship, the album as a whole deals with the idea of change - and fittingly, it stands as a milestone of how far the band has come in the past year alone. 
 
While similar bands may lean towards more radio-friendly sounds, Classic Jack has found a home in the hearts of fans longing for the emotionally charged songwriting that used to characterize post-hardcore and metalcore. In this day and age, kids can tell whether your act is authentic, and they’ve voiced their approval of Classic Jack loud and clear. 
 
In 2017 and beyond, Classic Jack will reach an even wider fan base all across the globe. If you’ve got your finger on the pulse of rock and metal, you’re sure to hear their name more often in the months to follow.
