Step into the shoes of The Jam Gang, a group of fearless kids who stop at nothing to beat the high score the the legendary D.S. on the famous arcade game: Mighty. Who is this mysterilus D.S? Rumors flow of an outlaw on the run from the law, who once roamed the streets but was a wizard at the arcade. Close your eyes and immerse yourself into an action packed, neone fueled, hair raising mystery in the Quarter of Legends.

Pretty sure I never got to post these. Oh well, here you go! :D I did both stages for a friend! 
Freedom Planet is modeled after 32 bit SEGA Saturn games, but it's fun to think how a 16 bit version would have been.
This is the first one! For once, I actually tried to follow polyphony rules. Still failed!

Pangu Lagoon [A] (16 bit arrange)

Commissioned by user @Falkalore. The parameters of the project were thus: 
1) a piece that takes its inspiration from the soundtrack of Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention, particularly incorporating the motifs of the main theme by Masahiko Yoshimura
2) a piece that utilized the soundchips found in the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive, keeping true to the original works' limitations
3) a piece that, more than a mere "remix" takes inspiration but also goes beyond in telling its own story

Following these stipulations, this work tells a story in four parts:

Act 1: Gathering Storm ~ The March of Darkness
Act 2: The Arrival of the Shining Force, and the Raucous Joining of Battle, A Brief Reflection at What is At Stake
Act 3: The Enemy Regroups: A Desperate Counterattack
Act 4: The Shining Force Holds Firm, a Decisive Victory, Hope for the Future

The piece imagines a a scenario in which Max and his Company are called forth again to save the land of Rune (and the world) from the forces of darkness, who have risen again. A battle ensues, signalling the beginning of another epic tale of the Shining Force!

Above all, this piece of music has as its origin the dedication and confidence of Falkalore, who reached out to me to commission me to write a piece in the style of Shining Force. Being a fan of the games and eager to write a more orchestral-sounding piece, I eagerly agreed. He can take the most credit for getting my mind to push forward what I could personally do with FM instrumentation and arrangement. 

Secondly, this commission stands at a milestone for my profile, surpassing 25,000 plays from my tracks. Over the course of seven (!!!) years, it's been incredible to see my audience grow into the thousands from anonymous listeners, friends, dedicated followers, and more. The reason I write music is because of your support, vocalized or otherwise. I am truly thankful for all the feedback, compliments, and critiques I have received over the years, and am always striving to improve for both your and my sake, whether with FM synth chiptunes or with more conventional music.

In partnership with acclaimed Japanese game developer TREASURE, we are thrilled to announce our RADIANT SILVERGUN vinyl edition.

Originally released in 1998 in the arcades and for the SEGA Saturn console, RADIANT SILVERGUN is widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters ever made. As a testament to the game’s inventiveness and unique aesthetic, RADIANT SILVERGUN has maintained a legendary status and cult following for decades, despite not being officially released outside of Japan until 2011, when a HD remaster was published on the Xbox 360 Live Arcade.

With its surprisingly complex mechanics, blending traditional shoot ‘em up elements with puzzle-like gameplay, RADIANT SILVERGUN subverted audience expectations and defied genre conventions. This unorthodox approach also extended to its musical score, which was composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto (whose other works include Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics). Whereas other shooters at the time had been accompanied by frenzied and bombastic scores, Sakimoto took an entirely different approach for RADIANT SILVERGUN. What begins as a stoic and determined score of recurring motifs, featuring percussion, strings and bells, slowly descends into an unexpectedly reflective and ambient score, with choral passages and a sense of minimalism that completely juxtaposes, but oddly complements, the frantic intensity of the game. There is no grandiose battle theme at the end, nor triumphant crescendo, nor glory. Just stillness and life. And there is life everywhere.
 
RADIANT SILVERGUN is presented as a remastered double 180g LP, with the first disc featuring Hitoshi Sakimoto’s original compositions and the second focusing on the SEGA Saturn versions. The package includes a double-sided lithographic print and a foldout poster, showcasing original and rare artwork from Treasure’s archive. In addition, and for a limited time only, all orders placed directly through our website will also include a sheet of 17 stickers (while stocks last).
